Why is it when you get something good ...sm

Posted: Aug 5, 2012

When you get something good, everybody wants a piece of it.

My hubbie got a very good job.  He drives an eighteen wheeler and has had some crappy jobs.  He waited to get on with this company for months.  He is making great money.  Enough so that I could quit transcription and go back to college.  (Thank you Lord)

He makes the mistake of telling people how well paying it is and everybody wants a job.  I said it's real simple if they have an opening give them the name and number and they can apply just like you did.  I mean you can't make them hire anyone.  THEN, friends, family, etc are wanting to go with him and him split his paycheck with them.  Whhaatt?  This is his paycheck.  Since when do you ask someone to split their work and paycheck with you.  These people have jobs.  I mean he isn't making bundles of money but good money.  Besides the fact, the company didn't hire that person and my husband could lose his job doing that.  Letting someone drive who is not covered by insurance, etc.   He said he has had more than one wanting him to do this.  He had to tell them no.  I mean we have went through hard times.  He was without a job several months ago.  Did he ask anyone he knew to let him get on their truck with them and expect them to split their paycheck?  No he did not ever ask anyone to do that.  How can you ask someone to do that?  And who wants to be cooped up in a truck with another man with one bed and not much room for days?  He's been there 2 weeks.  We haven't even gotten ahead yet and everyone is wanting a piece of the pie.  I wish he hadn't told anyone it was a good paying job.  When I get a good job one day and make good money, I will tell nobody what I make and will dare my hubbie too.  That's why he is being nagged now because he told.

I don't get people.  And when you got something good EVERYBODY wants a job.  I say just call and ask if there are any openings and if so apply instead of calling someone and nagging them to GET you a job.

I'm sorry, but I had to vent.  That is the most annoying thing, and I am not even the one they are annoying.  Why are people this way?  Why can't they just be happy for you that you finally got something good?

people don't want to actually work hard for something - Happy MT Robin

People don't want to work hard for something or they don't realize the work and/or the waiting that goes into something. THey clearly have no clue that your hubby paid his dues to get where he is.

Keep on telling people no and if they get their noses bent out of shape, then they weren't really friends and certainly don't need to be in your circle of influence.

Congratulations to hubby on getting a good job and congratulations to you for being able to go back to school. I wish both of you the best and long life and happiness.

Been through it! - mimtt

Been there, done that! When my husband owned his company we had everyone and their brother begging for a job, being rude and nasty if he couldn't give them one, or if he refused to fire someone in order to give someone's friend or brother or someone someone knows a job, or asking him if he could hire them and pay under the table so they could go on living off the government...the list goes on and on. Oh my gosh, it drove me nuts. And I see that happen on here a lot too if someone says they are happy with their job or if they say they make decent money--everyone jumps down their throat and wants to know where they work, if they can get in, etc. I mean, I can totally understand people wanting to know where the good companies are, but to get mad when someone doesn't give out the info...sheesh. Best wishes to you and your family...I hope you enjoy going back to school!

That's why if I won the Lottery, I would tell no one. - Not even close friends. (sm)

I would probably live pretty much as I do now, same apartment, same car, same activities. I would just tell people I finally got a new job, and quietly pay off all my outstanding debts, and bank the rest for my old age.

I had a good friend tell me about one of her PT jobs -sm - XXX

that pays quite well ($18/hour). She knows I need the money. She fell into it and knew a person there so that did help. She got me an application and I applied, just waiting now. She put in a good word for me, but that is all she can do. With any luck I will get called one of these days, waiting on state funds so it will probably be a while, but in theory I am at the top of the list. I am glad for her head's up though but I don't expect anything else from her. If I get the job or don't it will be because of my talents or lack of whatever they are looking for.

Very Good ArticleNov 13, 2009
No matter how much you hate him this is a good article.  Cut him down all you want but it won't change the truth. Here's a quote from the article: Mr. Bush said that "the role of government is not to create wealth, but to create the conditions that allow entrepreneurs and innovators to thrive." I wish it was someone else who has said this because a lot of people sole purpose is hating and cutting him down, which diminishes from the importance of the article.   http://www ...
