Finding a new job, for me ...Cool

I have been blessed. - Fingers

First, my daughter survived a horrible delivery of my granddaughter in September. She hemorrhaged, was flown to a different hospital, went through 3 transfusions, and 2 surgeries. I have never been so scared with one of my children in my life. I did not think these things happened anymore.

Next, of course my grandbaby, Finley. She is beautiful and is such a happy baby.

Lastly, my job, at which I am very happy to be making good money again.

Thank you so much for asking for some pleasant posts.

best of 2010 - sm

Well, living in a family where I lost my cousin at age 20, my aunt at age 57, my mother at age 62 and my sister going through breast cancer, I am grateful to be alive and healthy for another year. LOL

It is nice to have good posts and this is one and that really is the best thing that happened in 2010 for me. I also made it through 2010 keeping my job, hubby kept his job and we kept our house, unlike a lot of people. I had a lot to be thankful in 2010.

Happy New Year! Hope to see you in 2012.

Definitely my new granddaughter! - NYMT

She was born in March, three days after my birthday, and now is crawling and almost walking - one of the brightest things in my life.

Also my son turned into an adult finally and started holding down a job, saved up and bought a car, and has been responsible for almost a year, now! He's 21.

I had so many good things to be thankful for in 2010...

My one-year wedding anniversary, still consider ourselves honeymooning even after almost 4 years together.

My daughter landing her first job and HER one-year anniversary with her boyfriend (who's an all-around great guy).

My parents are both still living and reasonably healthy.

My husband's mother and stepfather are still living and healthy.

Financially, netted about $15K more than the previous year (whew!).

Our 2 little dogs are healthy as they can be and provide a lot of laughter and enjoyment to us.

No raise in the rent this year.

Becoming closer to my sister after a couple of years of being relatively estranged.

Gosh, the list goes on and on...I guess a better question for me would be what was NOT good about 2010, LOL!

I hope 2011 brings nothing but blessings for all of us :-)

I spent 3 days in Yosemite Nat'l. Park. - nm - Happy Camper

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2010. That is a blessing in itself, but we spent 5 days in YNP, which has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. It was a fabulous summer to be there, too. We were there in late July, and with the winter's heavy snows and the late spring, the falls were still flowing strong . We spent 3 nights in Curry Village, but to celebrate our anniversary we spent our last night at the Ahwahnee. AMAZING! We had a balcony with a view of Half Dome. To top it all off, there was a full moon. It was the trip of a lifetime. It was the first trip we had taken in many, many years and was worth the wait.

If you guys like that area.... - Kendra

My dad is really into photography and he lives near Yosemite, Mammoth, Death Valley, et cetera. A link to tons of his pictures.

I survived my own stupidity for putting off going to the doctor when I knew I was sick, thus turning my kidney stone into a life threatening situation. Luckily, my mother happened to be here during said illness, so I had someone to watch the kids while I was sick, since hubby was deployed.

My husband was deployed to a relatively safe place and made it home in one piece and in time for Christmas :)

My children are healthy and smart (at least I believe them to be smart).

My parents are alive and well, even if they cannot stand each other.

We have a nice house to live in and are reasonably comfortable as far as money is concerned.

My husband didn't miss our youngest son's first birthday (he was away when he was born).

I met wonderful neighbors and wonderful new friends.

I really cannot count all of my blessings. I live a charmed life :) Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC 2011!!!

best 2010 moment - Soon to be

2010 Really Sucks So FarJul 03, 2010
Well, the title pretty much says it all.  What a year it's been for all I know, and I am getting worn down holding it together.  Here goes the list: Husband, lost job, got new job in Alaska, but new employer will pay zero for relocation funds, so the family is separated for a least another year until we can sell the house, sell the household goods, and save money for the move.  Add 2 unhappy-about-moving teens to that! My freeloader sister wants to move in with me; I say NO ...

Steele: GOP 'screwed Up' After Reagan, Won't Win In 2010Jan 06, 2010
By David Edwards and Daniel TencerTuesday, January 5th, 2010 -- 12:46 pm Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele apparently thinks the best way to ring in the New Year is to disappoint his followers. In a TV interview Monday, Steele said the party won't be regaining control of Congress in the mid-term elections this year. And if there's a reason for that, it's that the Republicans "screwed up" after Ronald Reagan left office. According to excerpts of his new book, ...

President Obama To 2010 GraduatesMay 04, 2010
"But what troubles me is when I hear people say that all of government is inherently bad," said Obama, who received an honorary doctor of laws degree. "When our government is spoken of as some menacing, threatening foreign entity, it ignores the fact that in our democracy, government is us." Government, he said, is the roads we drive on and the speed limits that keep us safe. It's the men and women in the military, the inspectors in our mines, the pioneering researchers in public universiti ...

Foreclosed On Or Refused Loan Modification In 2009 And 2010Apr 09, 2013
Just wanted to share some good news. If you applied for a loan modification and were refused one and/or were foreclosed on (or threatened with foreclosure) in 2009 or 2010 you are more than likely getting some restitution from your lender, anywhere from $500 to $125,000, depending on the circumstance. As part of the Independent Foreclosure Review, payments will start to be sent out on April 12th.  Go to http://www.occ.gov/topics/consumer-protection/foreclosure-prevention/correcting-for ...

Health Insurance Premiums Jumped 9% From 2010-2011. Obamacare?Sep 25, 2012
http://www.factcheck.org/2011/10/factchecking-health-insurance-premiums/ From Factcheck.org: "Health insurance premiums for employer-sponsored family plans jumped a startling 9 percent from 2010 to 2011, and Republicans have blamed the federal health care law. But they exaggerate. The law — the bulk of which has yet to be implemented — has caused only about a 1 percent to 3 percent increase in premiums, according to several independent experts. The rest of the 9 percent rise is due ...

Wage Gap: 1978 Average $48K, Average 2010 $33.7K.Aug 01, 2013
It's far worse if you look at the top 10% of that top 1%. Over the past 30 years ownership of our nation's means of production has become clustered in the hands of a few people, who have simply decided to pay us less and themselves more. Note that the wage gap has continued to grow dramatically since these data were gathered, which understate our crisis, which threatens the foundations of our nation itself. So, we're thinking about elections. What are we going to do about it? 3 ...

Has This Ever Happened To Anyone?Jan 06, 2012
A couple of weeks ago, someone apparently used my e-mail address (and whatever else) to sign up for auto insurance quotes, creditmatch.com, and several other seemingly unrelated online services.  Several different insurance companies called my house all in one day, back to back, and my inbox was full of messages from all of these sites that I had supposedly registered with.  Has anyone ever had this happen, or know how it could happen?  I mean, I've had my e-mail address ...

Something Bad Happened To My Son...Mar 20, 2011
at church today.  An older boy (6) touched him in an inappropriate manner (licked his bottom), after locking the door to the bathroom, so that noone could see.  My son came and told me immediately and we talked about touching that is okay and not okay (thankfully, we have already had this talk, which is why he came to his father and me) and not to let someone ever do that again, as well as making clear that he can tell us anything and that he should never do this to anyone else, either ...

I was on a couple of months back, talking about how I had plans to be an artist for my retirement and how I was starting to sell things. Keep this in mind: I graduated art school 26 years ago and shortly afterward put my brushes down. I didn't pick them back up until April of 2009. I have been back painting about 9 months. What Happened To The End Of Offshoring Act? Jun 13, 2017
There is no greater contempt for Americans than to offshore our jobs to China and India, and then award these companies who do it with big government contracts paid by the American taxpayers.  What happened to the NAFTA renegotiations?  What happened to the 35% penalties promised?  Over 60 executive orders signed during the first 100 days and Trump has the power to do this, but does not.  What gives?  He campaigned on this promise.  Is this another campaign pro ...
