Today is going to be a great day

Posted: Oct 8, 2012

I'm just about over being sick.  I don't have to work today.  The whole day stretches before me in pure luxurious possibility.  Yes, I have to do more "job hunting," no the job hunt really isn't going that well.  But today, I'm gonna set that aside.

I'm reading Longfellow (poet), I really like it, it's easy to read - poetry that's easy to read, what a concept!  I'm also working on a poem and my novel.

It's like 24 hours' worth of being a human being.  What a concept.  I think if I had a whole lot more days like this, I would be a much happier person. It's in the Constitution, isn't it?  "Pursuit of happiness."  Maybe that's in the preamble.  Can't look it up now, it would eat into my pure luxurious possibility.

Anyone else with creative endeavors that never quite bring in the $$, but are what make your time on earth meaningful?

Why would not only one person, but two, dislike this post? Here is a person enjoying her day and felt like sharing. I think anyone who dislikes this post needs to pursue some happiness themselves.

Good for you!! I hope the day turns out to be all that it is cracked up to be and more!

i wouldn't be surprised if the "dislike" posts - you mention came from - s/msg

a suit or a transcription mgr. who doesn't like the idea of anyone taking a day off.

(never mind that mgmt. themselves likely get a month's paid vacation every year)!

Oooh...me thinks paranoia is setting in - Danny boy...sm

Here are some options to think of. I highly doubt a "suit" or manager is coming here reading and disliking posts. But here are some reasonable options.

1. People don't like her viewpoints on the political boards so are going to dislike anything she writes anywhere. I know I don't agree with her political viewpoints, but I wouldn't dislike her post here because of that, but I would bet your bottom dollar that's what it is. Or...

2. Some people are having a bad day and don't like to see anyone else have a good day. Or...

3. Since someone posted a message talking about people disliking her post (as if that really matters) people will dislike just to spite them. Now, got to say I do that. If I see someone pointing out they can't figure out why people dislike a post I will go back and dislike that post whether or not I do. Just cos I'm Irish and that's what I like to do. LOL. In this case I nether liked or disliked the post.

Anyway...those are just my guesses.
if you think the (lower-level) suits don't haunt this board, - i have a big orange bridge I'll sell ya cheap

;)
Yes, but what did you think of the other choice I gave - thought they were more realistic
[ In Reply To ..]
than the "suit" lurking behind the corner just waiting to pounce on a poster by "disliking" her post.

I have to say that kind of paranoia is pretty funny to me. I'm sitting here picturing a lady in a man's suit and tie, having to work but instead doing nothing but posting likes or dislikes to a post. I think this board is probably pretty insignificant to them to come here and just post a dislike because someone is having a good day. I do believe I can see a movie story with that one.

Good question - anon

I don't get that either... maybe they don't like Longfellow? =]

I hope everyone finds at least a little happiness today.

Now it's today, and I've got do SOME job-hunting related things...I need more days like yesterday...I think everyone does...people need disposable income...and they also need "disposable time." Just my opinion. Time to think, when the pressure is off, to see the big picture (or the little picture - yesterday I found some small wood blocks, I could add paper to, and do small paintings - I was thinking of people sitting in front of computers).

oh well........

I think she has a bad reputation on Stars. Just guessing - was not me. (nm)

Today's Another Great DayOct 11, 2012
Got the car fixed - several things wrong with it - so hopefully fingers crossed it will make it through the winter.  The whole winter.  And there's another car here, so if worse came to worst, I could take that. Moral of the story - a big stress is when "worse comes to worst" is on the horizon, and you have to live with that possibility day in and day out.  So one aspect of that is gone. Bought a nice velveteen-ish jacket at Salvation Army - eight dollars - it is pitiful wh ...

Brigham Young's Great-great-granddaughter, Now 71, On Oct 23, 2012
"A direct descendant of Brigham Young, Sue Emmett left the church (at 55) because of the very values she says would make Romney a frightening president. She speaks exclusively with Jamie Reno. Sue Emmett is Mormon royalty. Her great-great-grandfather was Brigham Young, the founder of Salt Lake City, first governor of Utah, and president and prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) from 1847 until his death in 1877." How Much Is Your Gas Today?Jan 07, 2011
A while back I posted a message that the oil commodity prices were going up and the last time oil was about $90, gas went to over $4.00.  Do you think there is less oil out there? The last time gas prices increased that much, oil companies reported record profits and Bush was president.  Hmmm.  Republicans have the House.  I think I will go buy some oil stock. ...

Wow, I Can See TodayJul 26, 2016
I cannot believe it. I had hardly any pain yesterday except after the drops were put in and today I can see to read quite a lot, not fine print, but can read this board and some other things. The colors are so bright and the white is so white and bright. I feel like I have new eyes. Thanks so much for praying all of you. BTW, they had to delay surgery for me and the first patient because something was wrong on the light. They finally got that fixed and I was only 20 minutes late going ...

DHS Did Something Right Today.Mar 03, 2015
Supposedly, DHS shut down 20 of these birth tourist homes, all in California. It costs up to $50K for the Chinese mothers-to-be to come and stay here, having their babies in a regular hospital, and then go home. The Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution grants automatic citizenship to everyone born in the United States. It was intended to ensure that freed slaves would be able to claim citizenship they rightly deserved. Today, however, some creative "birth tourists" are ta ...

I Got A Cat TodayJan 21, 2016
Believe it or not, I got a wonderful cat at a shelter today! He is a gorgeous black cat, looks like a little panther, and is incredibly affectionate and good natured. He had been there quite a while because the shelter people said they have such a hard time placing black cats! He is a love (and my third black cat), and I am so glad that a friend of mine suggested I take a black cat! So, no Savannah cat, no pit, no Rottie, just a wonderful and loving black cat! He is a very peaceful creature ...

Wow! What A Speech By O TodayJan 07, 2010
I'm surprised no one on this board commented on it yet. I watched it and he seems pretty pi$$ed. I just hope he really means what he said this time. As he said, it is his responsibility. Maybe now he will stop blaming the former administration and focus on being a president instead of a puppet. The only problem I see is that talk is cheap. Implementation of what his plans are for the terrorist problem has yet to be seen. I did miss the press conference between Homeland Security ...

Wow, Today Is The Day For GiftsDec 16, 2010
So first I got a fruit basket delivered today from one of my accounts.  Very nice.  Then I got my mail and there was a X-mas card from our next door neighbor. They are retired, in their 80s, and live in Florida for the winter.  Since we live in an area that has plenty of snow, we (usually me) shovel or snowblow their sidewalk whenever needed.  In the past they have always sent a X-mas card with a check for my husband for doing the snowblowing, I think usually about $50.  ...

So Let's See. What Did The Dems Do Today?Sep 05, 2012
1.  They removed God from their platform - and then they actually BOOED when they had to jam it back in.  Barry knew all about this, incidentally, and had absolutely no objection to the removal action - until the political potato got too hot for him to handle.  Now he's pretending that he rode in like the Lone Ranger and "saved God".  Disgusting. 2.  A Dem leader in Florida said that Christians want Jews to be massacred. 3.  A Dem legislator in Arkansas plead ...
