I have now been married to used to be one of my best friends to now more than 9 years. He is very hard working guy, honest, shy, and tends to be very introverted sometimes. I know he lived with another person in the 80s and I was married to someone else then also. I have no worries about his cheating in the least. He was a supposedly confirmed batchelor when we married, he was 49 at that time, never married, no children. The days when he is off from work, Friday and Saturday, he is either on the computer or playing his music in his man room. I walked into the bedroom this morning and startled him out of his sleep and he called out "Sheila." That is not my name. He had anesthesia last week for a procedure and waking up also said that name. i thought then he was kidding. This morning not so much. Justr wondering if this happens or has happened to others and what did you do? I am not into leaving but this has hurt my feelings, of course, after all this time.

Early on in our relationship he would slip sometimes and call me Donna (his ex-wife) out of habit, he'd been with her for 15 years (though he'd been divorced for 2 years when I met him). I did not take offense. He has not done it in years. I slip up sometimes and call my DH John (Not his name), why I don't know, never went out with anyone named John, nor do we have any friends named John, but I do have a brother name John, so figure I am just thinking about him for some reason when I do it.

But was his girlfriend in the 80s named Sheila?! If not, there goes the hope it was just a slip. My sister has been married to another man for 20 years and the whole family still regularly calls him by her first husband's name. I know your feels are hurt, hope everything works out. Sorry I do not have any advice, just responding to the other post. I guess since it has happened twice, I would have to ask directly.

There may not be any physical cheating going on, but if spends his days off on his computer maybe he is having an "emotional" affair with someone? Does he have a coworker by that name possibly that he works closely with? I'd be a little worried if he was a bachelor when you met, you've been together for more than 9 years, and he doesn't have any siblings by that name. Twice is just way too ironic.

Yes he has. But, it was during an argument and he called me by the name of a lady he worked with that he couldn't stand, so I really didn't think any more about it. We don't argue often though so I never really worried about it.

Both my current husband and myself had been in prior long-term relationships long before we decided to get married. He for 13 years, me for 15. We both owned our own homes from our prior marriages and decided to sell both and buy a new one for our new life.

I guess it's only natural to think on occasion about what could have been if the divorces never happened, or to get angry, melancholy or whatever.

Anyway, we were busy moving into our new home when the MIL called, said the drapes she had made us were ready to pick up. Hubby told her "Michelle will be over to pick them up in a couple of minutes"...(i'm not Michelle!) I was standing right next to him and we just stared at each other with mouths wide open... UNCOMFORTABLE!

He just turned around and went back to getting busy and I went back to fixing up the bedroom. A little bit later he came in and asked me if I was going to get the drapes or what?... I told him I thought Michelle was going! We both just started laughing, he apologized, said he didn't know where it came from and we laughed some more!
