I was at the mall, getting a coffee at a Starbucks. The girl at the counter was giving out samples of chocolate chip brownies. She asked if I wanted a sample, I declined. The woman behind me told her "I'll have hers", then asked why I didn't want it. I told her I didn't like chocolate. She SCREAMS "you don't like chocolate!!??? what the fudge (not fudge mind you...) is wrong with you???!!!"

So rude.. It reminded me of another time that I ordered split pea soup and the WAITRESS said "ew, yucko"...

Just wanted to share my "i-broke-free-from-the-computer-and-ventured-out-into-the-world story with y'all. Carry on!

store when I buy my supply of green olives. Have also had the cashier ask if I owned a store. I probably would have to call the Starbucks you went to and have a talk with the manager there.

Hahaha - this cracked me (and my husband) up. With my chocolate obsession, I can sort of understand this woman's thought process, but these thoughts would have stayed in my head...lol Funny story - thanks for the laugh

My nephew, who is 28, has a terrible habit of commenting on the food everyone eats. He gets this from his mother. He and his mother are extremely picky eaters and comment on everything everyone else eats. Since he was a small boy I tried to teach him that it was rude to announce his opinions of the food being served and eaten by others at the table. "Just say no thank you and eat what you do like, Michael." It never sunk in, I'm sure because his mother would also prattle on about how "slimy" a particular salad dressing was, or how the "puke" color of a certain food turned her stomach, etc.

Gargh! Whatever happened to civility?

I am, and have taught my children (now grown, teaching their own children) to be adventerous eaters. We (within reason) try anything and everything and it is unbelievable how much good food there is in this world!

I have eaten chicken feet and beaks in China, green mussels and other in Spain, swallows nest soup, cow brain, blood pudding, kidney pie, tripe soup to mention a very few!!

I ABHOR people who tell everyone within ear shot their opinion of your food!

I remember her having a cow's tongue in the refrigerator and telling me what a delicacy (spelling?) that was. I said no, will pass, you eat it. She ate pork brains with scrambled eggs, pickled pig feet and tripe also. This was coming from a Caucasian lady, yep. She told me in earlier years her father had put up a possum and fed it right and then the family tried to eat, yep tried because she said her mother was constantly pouring the grease off of it. For some reason my brother and I never had her eating habits. I thought perhaps she ate this way because of living through depression and her sister said no, none of the other family members like this.

way is a "delicatessen."
First you clean it with flour, salt and lemon juice and rinse it thoroughly. Then you cook it in the pressure cooker (add onions)until it is very tender. Then you have to skin and slice it thinly... delicious!

Once I bought a veal's tongue and the cashier told me, "eewww, what's that, I cannot even look at it!" " I wanted to call her supervisor and make her lose her job. But instead I thought, "Silly gal!"

eaten blood sausage (wonderful, German / Polish delicacy), pigs feet with sauerkraut, all sorts of other non mainstream American food. Yum.

Animal blood, suet, grains, raisins or currants, and spices... nothing graphic.

Very old dish, survived through the centuries in Europe. Irish I think.

I also enjoy trying new foods. I've had "fried blood" in Chinatown in LA, that was strange, very metallic (go figure). What I didn't get into much in LA was all the vegan dishes, served cold, raw, pureed. No textures, bland and very unpleasant to look at. BF wouldn't have anything to do with that, he's a meatasaurus rex. He totally got into sushi and kobe beef though!

We have an older neighbor (probably in his mid to late 70s.). He has a leaf blower and boy is it loud. I have inside cats of my own. This little boy has been coming around for some months and I have fed him, no problem there.
