Anyone out there into American Idol this year?

Posted: Jan 13, 2010

I say every year I am not going to be caught up in the moment and here I go again. Last night's show was really good as far as the talent and tonight is turning out to be some of the same. What was the guy's name, Tyler, last night that sang "Let's Get it On", oh my, my! Guess I am hooked again.

Every year I make a big deal out of saying that I won't be watching it until they narrow it down to 24 or 36 (or however many) and the real competition begin. I feel really bad for the people who try out and are just completely untalented. However, last night I tuned in and got completely caught up in it. There were quite a few good laughs (actually not provided by the poor, deluded souls, but by the expressions on the judges' faces) and also quite a few very talented people. I loved seeing the city of Boston also! Love Kira (or Kara?)!

Same here, if I look in a mirror I see "sucker" across my forehead, lol (sm) - Happy MTer

Last night was 1 of the best nights that I can remember in a long time. I have not been able to see much tonight, both grandbabies are here spending the night so it is loud and busy (2 and 3 years old).

I do believe though that this will be my last year watching it. Flame away, lol, but I am a HUGE Simon fan. From what I have seen in the past, he is pretty much heads on as far as the talent and does give really good advice. Yes, he is arrogant and very ugly at times but its just who he is. :)

That is Kara by the way and I will not flame as far - as liking Simon, he knows what he is doing

This might possibly be lights out for Idol this year, Simon has decided not to return but he is bringing Factor XIII to the US so can look forward to that. Same show except all ages can perform. Huge show in Britain.

I get so into it every year and every year I have a favorite. I've been to the last six seasons concert tours and have been lucky to meet just everyone of the top 10 each year. I've been impressed with a few so far. Some not so much. The 62-year-old man that was on tonight had me rolling -- "Pants on he ground..." LOL.

I said the same thing. I will start watching after they narrow it down but I got hooked again. I think Simon is being nicer this year. I think Kara was kind of snotty and unprofessional the last two nights. I think Mary J Blige would have been an excellent judge.

Already have a favorite - lrlady

I am gaga over the guy who had cancer 7 years ago. OMG. He has it all, looks, talent, personality. His smile just lights up a room. Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?
I am so in the same ballpark as you are, the guy - Loving it

who is in remission from whatever cancer is really good. There are a lot to choose from already this year. I did not care for the ones they had on last year, just lost me halfway but already this group seems to have gotten back in the swing. I just forgot about the one with the previous cancer but he has it all, the looks and the sound to go along with it. I think he said he liked the more mellow songs if I remember correctly.

Why Don't They Rename American Idol To "Idol For A Day"....Feb 24, 2011
Anyone remember the old tv show "Queen for a Day."  For those who don't, it was a daily tv show from the 50's where several ladies got up and told their  sob story and then they used an applause meter to pick the winner.  The winner received  a crown and robe and all sorts of gifts.  That was fine for Queen for a Day, but, hey, this show is supposed to be about talent.  Is there so much extra talent out there that they have to make the deciding factor the ...

The Next American Idol?May 03, 2012
I know, I know. It can be a bit lame but I've been watching it for years. Who do you think will win this year? I originally thought it would definitely be Jessica Sanchez, now I'm not so sure. That Joshua can certainly sing, although he wasn't my favorite at first, but he has grown on me. Holly has also stepped it up a few notches. Guess it's up to the voters now. ...

Any comments on the new American Idol.  I really enjoyed Wednesday's show I thought it was funny and refreshing.  I have not seen Thursday and read where the reviews were not great.  I think Jennifer Lopez will learn to say no as time goes on.  I thought the segment about the boy that lived in the shelter in the bronx was so emotional and you can the family bond between the two brothers.  What do you think? ...

American Idol Is So Lame AnymoreApr 20, 2011
This show and judges are such a bore now.  The judges say the same predictable stuff.  Its nothing without Simon.  ...and they love James Durbin, but when he screams that high note, its horrible... horrible.  My friend who teaches music noticed this too.  Listening to him on a CD would be painful.  Why cant people just sing well and that be good enough?  Its all about theatrics, screaming, being different, etc.  I used to love watching Idol.  I am don ...

So Glad IDOL Is Over, Become So Lame.May 26, 2011
Nobody deserved to win... and no.. not even James. He could not carry a tune.  Lauren is a good singer, but really, if anyone has watched the show "The Voice", almost every contestant on there was better than anyone on idol this year.  The judges are a total joke, lame, lame, lame.  I used to love this show, but since Simon has left, its a big bore. Also, the voting system is not legit.  Nobody should be able to vote over and over and over.  This show is nothing but a bi ...

2-year-old Kentucky Girl Accidentally Killed By Her 5-year-old Brother May 01, 2013
"A 2-year-old Kentucky girl was accidentally killed by her 5-year-old brother who fired a rifle he had been given as a gift, officials said Wednesday." Parents can be arrested for not reporting a missing child. It's not even legal to let your child drive a car without a permit. Yet, this sad, sad story is unfortunately way too common. We MUST start holding adults accountable for guns in the home. ...

"No Fair Wage For American Workers." Most American JobsDec 12, 2012
the people who hold them are getting wage cuts instead of increases. We're ALL in trouble. From the Washington Post: "The stagnation of wages has become an accepted fact across the political spectrum; conservative columnists such as Michael Gerson and David Brooks have acknowledged that workers’ incomes seem to be stuck." "Defenders of right-to-work laws argue that they improve a state’s economy by creating more jobs. But an exhaustive study by economist Lo ...

One American Dead Jan 18, 2013
Another international crisis . . . terrorists at it again: Fox News has confirmed that one American has died in the hostage standoff at an Algerian gas complex. Officials told the Associated Press the deceased American is Texas resident, Frederick Buttaccio. It is unclear how he died. Earlier Friday, the State Department confirmed there are still American hostages being held by an Al Qaeda-linked group at the gas plant, deep in the Saharan desert. When asked about a report that the grou ...

Why We Are Not Having An American RevolutionJan 24, 2014
Robert Reich's status. January 19 People ask me all the time why we don't have a revolution in America, or at least a major wave of reform similar to that of the Progressive Era or the New Deal or the Great Society -- given that middle incomes are sinking, the ranks of the poor are swelling, and almost all the economic gains are going to the top. The answer is complex, but three reasons stand out: (1) The working class is paralyzed with fear it will lose the jobs and w ...

What BP Isn't Telling You: Not Just An American Problem.Jun 21, 2010
By Jes Alexander on June 21, 2010 WASHINGTON, DC (Herald de Paris) - So much of the handling of this BP Oil Disaster (a name for this mess we are advocating as it does not downgrade the situation, since IT’S NOT A SPILL) has been left to BP, out of the hands of the international science community and away from US federal agencies, I thought I might remind you all of what might happen if this hemorrhaging of crude oil is allowed to continue much longer:  Think Gulf Stream. American's Pleas For Help In Sudan Ignored. Aug 18, 2016
Hillary Clinton will follow suit. Here’s a recent snapshot of just how depraved things have become (as if we need more examples). The AP recently reported on a four-hour rampage of violence directed against Americans (and others) in South Sudan when Sudanese troops attacked a residential compound last month. The soldier pointed his AK-47 at the female aid worker and gave her a choice. “Either you have sex with me, or we make every man here rape you and then we shoot you in the head,†...
