Joey's cervical cancer has returned, is terminal, and she is ending treatment.  So sad.  She is from the same town as I am, and I grew up listening to her family sing.

;

Always sad to read something like this of a young person - with a very young child. SM

I always wish I could trade places with them, or I wonder why them instead of so many other truly bad or evil people who really deserve an early or ugly end.

I've lived a long life of 50-some years by now, I'm ready to go any time. Why them, and not me instead.

Too bad we can't ever get an answer to that kind of question.

It will continue as long as parents refuse to vaccinate - for HPV.

As long as parents refuse to vaccinate for HPV, it will continue.

Nonsense. I am darn near 60 years old and never been - vaccinated for HPV and I had a SM

let's politely say, I had a variety of experiences in my younger days. I still to this date don't have a damn thing wrong with me; HPV, cancer, STDs, nothing.

If this vaccination BS were really true, we'd have had a virulent oubreak long ago of cervical cancer in women of all ages and probably wouldn't be too many women left alive today.
Cervical cancer was a major cause of death until - fairly recently.

You are waaay off track with that! It WAS very prevalent. Apparently, you didn't experience it.

How exactly do you explain away the case in the woman mentioned in the OP's post?

12,900 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer this year. The death rate has gone down 50% from 30 years ago, and 60% from 1955, when it used to be a scourge. It was a major cause of death in women of childbearing age. It struck without warning and your mom would be dead in a year. Pap smears put a dent in it, but women still die.

It still is a major cause of death in most developing nations.

You cannot assume that your experience is typical.

Oh drat it. I am very, very sorry to hear it. I always have enjoyed those guys' music and of course Rory may well be a great guy but Joey is the voice there... and shame shame on those who believe cancer is something you need to blame the victim for. You're the ones who deserve it most.

Relaxing MusicMay 03, 2016
(Top favorite is instructional videos on various topics.) So, I'm someone who loves ambient music whatever I'm doing and like anyone else I have different moods, situations, etc.  Work, study, treadmill, meditation, sleep, doing housework - different music for each.  I used to buy CDs but now I find everything I could want on YouTube.  Sometimes I just stream it directly from YT to speakers, sometimes I convert it to MP3 for playing in the car, etc. You can find videos ...

The Day The Music DiedJul 09, 2017
A stunning – and stunningly disturbing - event took place this past weekend. But unless you were scouring the news very carefully, chances are you didn't even hear of it. The annual Bravalla Festival, one of the most popular summer music concerts in Sweden, was abruptly canceled. There will be no festival next year. Or ever. Given that tens of thousands of tickets were sold, the problem was not attendance. Nor was there any difficulty booking big-name rap and rock stars. No, ...

Need Some Hints About Teenage Music WantsNov 29, 2009
I have gotten together some items for families that may be lacking this year. Already got one family with 4 children their Christmas and have most for a family of 6 (egads) children what might brighten their Christmas morning. Another lady said her sons, 14, 15 and 19 (yes, I know they are older) might like clothing, cologne or something in the music department. I am trying to go as cheap as I can with used toys for the smaller ones but can anyone point me in the right direction of buying ...

Least Favorite Christmas Music?Dec 02, 2011
I have to admit I can't stand the "Christmas Shoes" song.  I have a high tolerance for schmalz, but that's over the top for me.  I change the radio station when that comes on.    I'm sorta on the fence about "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".  It's kind of cute, but it has the disadvantage of sticking in my head and I end up singing it the rest of the day! Anyone else? ...

Favorite Christmas MusicDec 01, 2011
I'm finally getting into the Christmas mood.  I have Harry Connick, Jr's "When My Heart Finds Christmas" playing and I LOVE it.  My favorites are It Must've Been Ol' Santa Claus and Ave Maria.  He has such a beautiful voice and is such a great performer. ...

Music From Today's Younger Generation. May 22, 2012
I am from the generation of Free Love, Hippies, Vietnam and college demonstrations against war.  As a teenager I watched JFK being assasinated and watched as LBJ took office then.  I suppose that our music reflected the changes in our society and politics too.  We had so many wonderful classic age rock groups and singers -- Rolling Stones, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, the Doors, Crazy Joe Macdonald, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens, Carol King and on and on.&n ...

How Did This Country Turn Into A Country Without Borders? Reagan And Bush Debate 1980Jul 13, 2015
We could go on pretending that the history of the United States and everything bad came into existence on January 20, 2009, when Obama took the oath of office, thereby nullifying everything that had theretofore happened in American history before Obama became president... OR.... novel idea, we could watch, listen, and learn from history and actual facts. The Governor of California, Ronald Reagan, believed in an open door policy in North America and free trade with unwavering support. htt ...

Joy Villa's Music Sales Skyrocket Donning Pro-Trump Dress To GrammysFeb 13, 2017
Joy Villa's music sales skyrocketed after the singer wore a pro-Trump dress at Sunday night's 59th annual Grammy Awards. When she arrived at the Grammys, Villa flung off a white frock to reveal a gown of patriotic red, white and blue that urged "Make America Great Again" and had "Trump" in sparkly letters on the back hem. The 25-year-old's EP "I Make the Static" jumped to the top of Amazon's top digital paid albums and reached number seven on the iTunes top album chart aft ...

This Puts Healthcare Into Easy To Follow May 16, 2017
Because the reality is that not having health insurance doesn’t mean that the Billys of the world die on the street. Instead, they die of poverty. We need to tell the stories of 1,000 Billys. Not the ones with famous, millionaire parents, but the ones we see in our clinics every day whose parents face the choice of keeping a low paying job or losing it to qualify for government assistance, or whose mortgages are three months late in the face of crippling bills. Without names and faces, affo ...

Follow Up On The Post Below "Looking For Those In Their 40s Returning To School" Or SomethJan 19, 2011
Forgive me please, it has been a long day and while I looked at the old post to remember the title, as soon as I opened the dialog box to start a new thread, I forgot it!!  That is what typing for 15 hours will do for you, plus knowing that I only made $102.00 in that 15 hours! Anyway, I wanted to share what progress I have made and trust me, for me this is HUGE!  I have emailed the program director at the local technical college asking her advice about a 46 YO (ME) entering into the ...

"I Mourn For The Country" -- "the Country Is Doomed"...Nov 07, 2012
"America is gone as we know it."  The hyperbole is very sad to read.  Even though you didn't vote for Obama, don't you WANT our country to start healing?  We won't heal if citizens don't start to break the overly-dramatized sense of gloom and doom.   ...

Is This What Our Country Has Come To?Oct 27, 2010
It's politics people.  Someone's going to lose.  There are millions of people in the country who vote.  Every one of their vote is important whether or not they vote democrat, republican, or a different party.  Each election seems to get worse and worse.  The problem here is that this is the first time since any of us has ever seen, that the people are finally standing up and exercising their rights.  They want their voices heard and rightly so.  Our ...

Our Country Needs Help.Sep 30, 2012
Our nation is broke, broke, broke. We are in debt to the tune of over 16 trillion and mounting due to interest alone daily. We are going to be in only more trouble if we keep borrowing to give money to other countries and stimulus bills to create jobs and give to other solar panel companies like Solyndra (latest recipient SoloPower). GM is recalling over 40,000 cars for repair after the losses already taken. The entitlements we have paid into such as Medicare and Social Security are going t ...

The Country Woke Up, All Of ItNov 07, 2009
Call them liberals, call them progressives. Many fell asleep at the switch and the result was G. W. Bush. That caused us to wake back up, though, and take the country back. The radical conservatives slept through the Bush years and only woke up when Obama was elected. But in their sleep, they heard things. And when they awoke, they parrotted those things that they had heard. Not correctly, but what do parrots know? The left objected to loss of our civil rights through the wiretapping and data ...

So What The Heck Is Going On In This Country?Nov 24, 2013
Why do so many people keep taking about Communism and Socialism. What are they? I say it's their ideology. They both (socialism and communism) pretty much try to control you, and the bigger they are, the more power they are. It's partly about greed and control. The "left" confuse us and make us think Capitalism is greediness, but Capitalism is the free market, free enterprise. Without it no-one will have jobs, and especially there will be no competition, doing away with competitiv ...

Why We're In Trouble In This Country.Aug 25, 2015
We're in trouble because democracy absolutely depends on an electorate that is sufficiently well educated to be able to assess the claims of candidates, to reject the falsehoods and misinformation that political campaigns, their supporters and the press spew into the atmosphere, darkening the sky in an effort to hide the truth from the light of day, and having the ability and the intellectual honesty to objectively judge the character of those who aspire to political office. Democracy is f ...
