A miracle baby

Posted: Jan 24, 2014

Oh, my goodness.  This little angel, Grace Anna, has a Facebook page that features her singing.  She's 3 years old and was born with a myriad of rare anomalies, one of which is dwarfism.  But it doesn't stop her from enjoying life and letting the whole world know it!  She sings on key, and she knows all the words to "Amazing Grace," "This Little Light of Mine," "You Are My Sunshine," and "Star-Spangled Banner!" Her mommy and daddy had lost all 3 of their previous babies to miscarriages.  Grace Anna made it, though!

If this isn't God in His full glory, I don't know what is.

Is this little girl put here to perform for the church and learn lyrics beyond her years so the parents can show off?

Or was this child put here on earth to enjoy being a child, playing in the sand and dirt and singing nursery rhymes and fingerpainting?

That was mean - not the OP

why not just enjoy it instead of reading ulterior motives into it?

My Point - see msg pls

I think little children should sing; music is good for children. BUT, at their own will when they feel like it, not on cue and not forced to memorize tune after tune.

That's all I'm saying.
I'm the OP - sm

I can see your point, because some parents would do something like that. But in Grace Anna's case, if you spend any time reading her mommy's journal and blog posts, as well as watching the videos of the Grace Anna singing, I think you'll agree that all they are doing is celebrating their little girls' joy and happiness as she's singing. She's the happiest little girl, despite her myriad of medical problems. It brings joy to me to see what a little miracle she is. Her parents aren't going to make a Gypsy Rose Lee out of her or anything like that. They just want to share their little angel with the world.
Allow the angel - To be her own person
[ In Reply To ..]
Just allow the sweet angel to be her own person, not "share her with the world."

I think it's beautiful, but it would still appear to me that it's the other people's rejoice, not the child's. By virture of the fact that mommy has a journal, mommy has a blog, "they" want to share, tells me it's about them, not the child.

Bless the child. She is not anyone's blog or show piece, she is her own sweet angel and I pray that some day she can be her own little self. Three years old is too young to "showpiece."
Agree, this is all about mommy - sm

All Gypsy Rose Lee's parents wanted to do was "share" her with the world, too.

This is all about mommy. If it wasn't, there would no need to have a facebook page or a blog at all, nor any reason to videotape that child.

The OP may not be aware of this, but people who do this do it for money. They don't even have to ask for it. People from all over will send donations, in particular to help with medical care.
Thanks - Thought it was just me!

Well, at least someone understands what I'm trying to say.

I won't make the jump that mom is exploiting her kid in the same manner like those tiara and dance shows, but it's certainly very disconcerting to me that she can't be proud of her lovely daughter for just being "her."

She is a gift and the mom should just enjoy her gift---having the child consistently perform and shown off does nothing to benefit the child.

OMG! You need a serious attitude change... - noneya

How very unkind, down right mean! I will say a prayer for you because you need help. And, the post was lovely in that it showed a blessing this child is instead of an inconvenience or not "normal". Wow.

I think it is mean - To showcase little children

[ In Reply To ..]
I said in all my posts to just allow this child to be a child. I personally think it's horribly mean to show-piece a little kid, honestly. It's downright abusive when it reaches a certain point.

And this mother is a show-off. People who don't need to live through their children, do not flaunt them, have blogs, you tube pics, etc. They are proud, but they are proud quietly. It's one thing to share something cute, it's another thing to exploit the kid.

Mom is doing that for herself to make herself look good or something. Not sure of her motivation, but parents who are truly proud of their children, are just proud of them and love them for who they are; they don't show them off.

What she is doing is different from posting a cute story, she's out and out "putting the kid out there" to puff her own self up.
Loving Grace Anna - elaine

Negative, negative, negative. Some people need to get up on a different side of the bed. My daughter was singing in church not long after she was out of diapers, and she loved it! She loved getting up and playing the organ and helping 'direct' the choir. At least, she believed she was playing and directing the choir. Of course at that age, she was only pretending, but make no mistake about it, she could carry a tune perfectly, and she loved it. My little girl was, and still is, sharp as a tack. Within two weeks, she had learned all of her ABC's. I showed her the idea of reading ONE TIME,what it meant to connect all of the sounds together, and she read the entire book the first night. What I am trying to say is that children have great fun doing things they are good at. It is a wonderful thing for Grace Anna's mom to be showing her all of the things she can be good at, and building her confidence. This will serve her very well later on in life, when negative people want to pick away at her self-concept. All of you people that enjoy looking for a negative, ulterior motive should just be nice.
Interesting observation - see msg

I find it interesting that you put in all caps ONE TIME. Okay, we're all very impressed.

I know children enjoy doing what they're good at, but they also feel an intense need to please their parents and will pull out all the stops to do so. When the latter becomes their focus, that's where the problem lies. She is not here on this earth to please you, she is here to be her.

The fact of the matter is, those who showcase their children quite frankly have lost touch with what the kid enjoys and what they don't. Even the kid doesn't know. They just want you to be happy. If singing and being a little ham and being brilliant makes you happy, then that's what she's going to do.

Baby Horse And MomJul 19, 2010
Just wanted you all to know that the baby miniature horse was even more precious in person!  She just stuck to her mom and they walked side by side in the pasture.  One of the girls who lives on the farm picked her up and brought her to the fence so we could pet her.  Baby's mom was eating hay under a shade tree with her back turned. Suddenly she realized that her baby was not beside her.  She made some very loud cries and galloped over to the fence to protect her litt ...

Baby MiceJun 11, 2010
I know he should have left well enough alone, but DH found a mommy and 5 baby mice in our shed.  He brought their bedding and the mice into the house to show me.  Mommy escaped and we can't find her.  Does anyone know what I can do for those poor babies?  After I put the dogs to bed at night, I leave out trails of cheese for Mommy, leading to the babies, hoping she'll come back.  Sure, they're rodents, but I feel terrible.  ...

So Not Having Nursed A Baby I Have Got ToOct 07, 2015
Just saw where a lady was upset because she wanted to nurse her baby at an airport, wanted some privacy and was told she could get that in the bathroom. She did not want to do that, said germs and then the airline person suggested the pet room where apparently the animals go to use the bathroom, I think. Having never nursed but thought a woman, if traveling, could nurse ahead and store the milk somehow. Women with babies have traveled for years. Why now do others think they are so entitled to ha ...

Husband Favors His Son Over Our Baby GirlMar 17, 2010
I just don't understand how my husband can favor his 7-year-old son from a previous relationship over our new daughter.  She is 4 months old and the only child he seems to be concerned about is his son.  His son is here Thursdays-Sundays and when he is here, he pays no attention to our baby.  Right now, she is not noticing this I guess because she is so young but I am afraid as she gets older, she will begin to pick up on this and that just breaks my heart.  So many litt ...

Question About Baby Shower Etiquette.Jan 29, 2015
My friend is having her second baby and she decided that I should throw her baby shower this time.  I said sure and I suggested a diaper shower since this is her second baby in a relatively short period of time (2 years) and she has found out she is having the same sex, so in my mind at least, she already has all the "stuff."  She seemed very offended by this, so fine I decided to call it a baby shower and let people decide on their own.  Now my friend has taken to checking in wit ...
