Let's assume that it was a Russian bot movement. What would be the signs of that? Wouldn't the media be able to prove that these are Russian bots?
This is the part where I would expect you to say the bots are too devious to be detected. But isn't it also your contention that we DID detect Russian bot activity previously in 2016? If that's the case, it should be very easy to prove Russian bot activity now.
On the other side, let's assume that undetectable devious Russian bots are involved in amplifying the #WalkAway movement, in effect making "10 into 1000" or 1 into 100, if you do the math. How would you prove this?
It's easy. Pick 10 people at random citing #WalkAway and click through Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube account. If they're a Russian bot they wouldn't have any history there. They certainly wouldn't have a history of being a Dem previously. Picking 10 people at random is the key. If only 1 in 100 is truly a real person, then 9-10 (it's really more like all 10, but you might get lucky) of the random people you pick won't have any significant history of interaction with others.
I think it's safe to assume that all of the Dem media outlets would want nothing more than to prove #WalkAway is a Russian bot conspiracy. So why aren't they doing this simple experiment and publishing their results?
By now everyone should realize that bots can make a hashtag trend, but they can't write testimonials, videos, and create a history of meaningful activity.
