We do have a homelessness crisis in this - country and have for a long time Posted: Jun 24th, 2018 - 11:18 am In Reply to: Homelessness crisis: Where is the mayor? - (Seattle's Jenny Durkan visits Mexican border
Some of the homeless are drug addicts and drunks, which in most cases you just can't help unless they want to be helped. Those that are homeless due to loss of job and home, etc., why aren't we helping them?
I see help wanted signs all over, yet businesses won't pay enough money to survive on, even with the whopper of a tax cut they got. They want to cut Medicaid and food stamps, so how is that helping. We totally lack affordable housing because people would rather build and run the housing that brings in the big dollars. I worked several jobs at a time at one point to keep a roof over mine and my child's head, but I couldn't get insurance because I couldn't afford health insurance privately and made too much for Medicaid. Many of these people have mental health issues but can't afford help or just don't want help.
The immigrant issue and homelessness issue are two separate issues though. Don't try to tell me these people are homeless because of illegals because that is simply not true. In this country, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and it has been going on for a long time.
