I think you may be right. I end up "fact checking" everything anymore since I can't trust any basic piece (or pieces) of news. Not sure it would hold water in the courts since a proprietor normally has the right to refuse service to someone (which isn't based on prejudism or racism), and that isn't the case here since republicanism/trumpism (or democratism/hillaryism/bernieism/obamaism, etc, etc, etc) isn't defined by a culture, race or sex.
