Imagine one of those children was your child, and perhaps you had been placed in prison for the sin of seeking refugee status or even just merely trying to cross the border to safety (which is a misdemeanor, not a felony).
Do you think it matters to them what conditions they are in? What do children need more than anything? The love of their family.
Doesn't matter if the little ones are deposited in Trump Tower itself, in all its garish glory, they have been separated from their family.
I think conservatives find this very hard to relate. They just cannot equate immigrants, refugees, legal or illegal, with themselves and their children. Why is that? This idea that these people desperately trying to cross the border and obtain safe haven, many from unspeakable conditions, are "the other" - "infestations" - etc.
Just think for 2 seconds though what it would be like to have that happen to you and your child.
Our ancestors, most of us, had the same uncertainty, insecurity, and the same fleeing from horrible conditions and war-torn countries. We should be thankful they were treated better than this and that we are here today to bear witness to this. The Trump administration should be ashamed and this must be stopped.
