It's more like mass hysteria fed by the liberal media who've lied to them.
Look at MSNBC as an example. They truly believed that Trump was "literally worse than Hitler," cheated to win the election, and all this would soon be proven and he'd be impeached.
Not only is that not happening. Trump's actually doing a pretty decent job and his approval rating is as high as Obama's at this point in his presidency.
It's more than just changing their belief from the above, to not Hitler, didn't cheat, and not going to be impeached. That would be a big enough leap for any committed Democrat/Resistance/Antifa person. The liberal media has refused to cover Trump with any kind of balance. In the process, they've been lying to themselves and their viewers. I don't care how good the argument is. No one is going to admit they've been living in a self-imposed information bubble for the past two years.
Congressional committee findings that should have exonerated Trump were brushed aside as Republican whitewashes. Even though Democrats on the committees found no evidence to the contrary. These facts at least should have given the Left the beginnings of an inkling of an idea that they could be wrong about Trump. Nope. All the facts were ignored.
Then the IG report and the Horowitz testimony came out. Any reasonable person would see the liberal media's bias and lies. Any reasonable person can see that the Russia stuff was all a setup by the Obama admin. The heroes who, in their mind, thought they were taking down Hitler were really committing treason against the legally elected President. But they can't see it. It's too big of a stretch.
No one's brain is prepared for that kind of jarring change, especially after two full years of lying to themselves and believing only those who agreed with them.
So what do they do? The only thing they can do. They continue to believe that Trump really is Hitler and anyone who supports him or works with him is a Nazi. You'll see this all over liberal media right now. It's total confirmation bias and mass hysteria.

The baby thinks the parent is never coming back and, quite appropriately, cries like their life is over. The same thing goes for toddlers and kindergartners.

-- Translation: Yes Obama did all the horrible things we're accusing Trump of doing, but it's not the same. Obama isn't Hitler.

- Hillary Clinton: I Warned Of Trump Separating Families, "People Being Rounded Up On Trains And Buses"
-- Yep, just like the Jews in Nazi Germany (and the illegals Obama bused to cities throughout the US.)
- Feinstein on Child Migrants: "This Is The United States, Not Nazi Germany, And There's A Difference"
-- No explanation needed.
There are many more examples, but it has nothing to do with Trump or any Trump policy. It's people finally starting to work through the stages of grief, again. Remember the riots right after Trump was elected? But Liberals held out hope (aided by the media) that Trump would soon be gone. Now they're back at the denial and anger stage again. They're still working out what's happened over the last two years.
I don't know if this is the last mass hysteria episode we'll see. How many there have been so far? Eventually they'll work through it and get it out of their system. Or not. How many people in jail for murder continue to believe they acted in self defense?
That's actually an interesting question. What do you think it would take for the Liberal media (as seen on MSNBC and CNN) to believe that Trump isn't Hitler, didn't steal the election, didn't collude with Russia, etc.? Will the next 2-6 years be filled with a never-ending chain of liberal media tantrums? It has to end at some point, doesn't it?
