race riots. The following year it was reopened and the entire student body (1500) kids entered through one portal past armed security (remember this was the 70s). The sense of security was prevalent, and the regiment made the bad actors very docile while on campus.
While I think having armed staff is a good idea, you must temper that by looking at the faculty in these schools. How are a bunch of progressives women going to handle being the vanguard of security?
Controlling access is the key (pro-action not re-action).
