Under the best of circumstances, especially against a military style weapon, things can still go wrong. You can't just say "arm the teachers," even if some of those teachers are willing. There are A LOT of details to be worked out, for instance suppose there is an accidental shooting by that teacher of an innocent student? Suppose one of the students gets hold of that gun? A person trained to use a gun is not ready for real life shoot out situations, especially when there are hundreds of kids around.

Something else that has not been addressed here particularly is do you think the parents of kids should be charged when their kid gets hold of their weapons and shoots someone either accidentally or on purpose? It happens more than you think. Many accidental shootings are due to irresponsible gun owners. Should their gun rights be restricted?
