I posted that as a cautionary tale as much as anything. Evidently county agencies are not any more honest than the infamous horse traders of old.
Would they lie to a family and tell them that a dog is "good with children" when it isn't?
Would they lie and tell a prospective adopter that a dog was "good with cats" when it wasn't?
I'm willing to bet that they would! And, at $275 with no returns, it's expensive.
Our local humane society allows returns. They told me, "We would prefer people bring the animal back than do whatever [dump it out somewhere, etc.] with it." People's new pets don't work out for a variety of reasons -- allergy of a family member, for example.
It's really a sad day, but, yes, I am comforted to know that he gave her a good life for her remaining days. Thanks again.
