Man hasn't been keeping records forEVER, so nobody can make that statement.

Additionally, paleo weather evidence (see the post below about paleotempestology) clearly indicate that the SE U.S. coast was hit with much more severe hurricanes 450 million years ago.

Summary:
The recent storms that have battered settlements on the east coast of America may have been much more frequent in the region 450 million years ago, according to scientists.


Good luck blaming that one on SUVs.
