Can someone explain Trump's Tweet to me? - Help requested

This morning: "Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!"

1. What was the factor of the write-in votes? They always count, don't they?

2. This is a Senate seat which is a 6-year term, right? Does he think this is a 2-year House seat? He seems to be very slow to grasp the intricacies involved in government, but geez!
