I believe she was needing a support group. That is one thing they teach at hospitals as well as outpatient counseling. You are ahead of the game if you have a support system. If you don't, no one tells you how to live without it.
As I say, you automatically took that poster's remark about knowing how to treat depression way out of context of the way it was meant, I think. Anyway, I wish she could get what she needed in the way of support.
Don't you think it would be bad to fight depression alone except for pills and a counselor, etc.? That's like telling someone to read a book about it. Not very helpful particularly if perhaps she has already done that. Think about it.
