It's easy to imagine the headlines the second anyone tries to limit government spending for the disabled. They get bad press just for trying to freeze spending at current levels by not increasing it.

I mean even a post like yours puts you "on the wrong side of history."

Consider the following:
* Are you officially a bigot now?
* Are you saying your apartment complex shouldn't be remodeled for the disabled?
* You live upstairs, why are there no elevators? Don't you think the disabled might like to live to upstairs too.
* Oh, now you want the disabled to live upstairs? What's wrong with you!?! What if there's a fire?
* Now you want the disabled to die a fiery death because you put them in an upstairs apartment and everyone knows you can't use the elevator in a fire.
* Oh wait, now we're back to not spending money on upgrades for the disabled. I'm getting confused. This is too much thinking. Can someone please tell me if I'm a bigot or not? I know it won't matter to the disabled, but I need to know if I should be ashamed myself. I'll ask a college student, they'll tell me!
