Yes, and that includes Ishmaelites. - Teacher

Posted: Nov 30th, 2017 - 9:19 am In Reply to: Just for fun, all Semites actually came from Noah's son - Shem. Hence the name.

Both Hebrews and Arabs are descended from Abraham. (That is why Islam and Judaism are considered Abrahamic religions, along with Christianity.)

"in addition to daughters. Abraham, the patriarch of the Hebrews and Arabs, was one of the descendants of Arphaxad."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shem

And, yes, Noah was a Semite. Religious link (MyJewishLearnign): "The name Semite comes from Shem, the eldest of the three sons of Noah."

Semitic peoples are identified by their language as well:

Who are the Semite people? (from Encyclopedia Britannica) "Semite, person speaking one of a group of related languages, presumably derived from a common language, Semitic (see Semitic languages). The term came to include Arabs, Akkadians, Canaanites, some Ethiopians, and Aramaean tribes including Hebrews."

Religious version -- Arabs are Ishmaelites.

"From the line of Shem comes Israel, the Lawgiver Moses, all the Prophets, Priests and Kings of Israel (north and south). So, the Bible is really a history of the Semitic people (Jews and Arabs) through ONE family, Arphaxad, the son of Shem (See Appendix 14 – Noah, Shem and Abraham Are Contemporaries). The Arabs come from Abraham’s marriage to Hagar (son Ishmael) and descendants of Esau (Edomites)."
