One reason I canceled my voter registration. - FedUp

Posted: Nov 21st, 2017 - 2:06 pm

I am fed up with both parties.  They are like Pepsi and Coke -- both are caramel-colored caffeinated colas with just diferrent branding.  As a conservative, for years now I have known that the GOP does NOT represent me.  It is full of neocons and other various associated RINOs.  I am a paleocon.  The two-political party system is just a dog-and-pony show.

So, I canceled my voter reg. years ago.  Then I renewed it to vote in a local election (a friend was running for State Senate) and the ROBOCALLS began.  They annoyed me.  After the election I canceled my VR again.  The calls stopped -- not immediately but shortly thereafter.

Then I signed up again to vote on a local issue here for the November election.  My peaceful existence was again invaded by countless robocalls and other telemarketers, sometimes calling me at 5:45 AM!  (I am in the MST time zone.)  So, I just canceled my VR again.  The calls are continuing, and I am hopeful that once my request is processed in month or two they will completely cease.  Fortunately I own a phone that allows me to block up to 500 numbers, however the phone still rings once when they call.

How does this happen?  Your VR info is public info.  It is posted online in many states.  In addition, your contact info may be provided to whichever party you register under (in my state, anyway).  What do you think the parties do with those lists?  Telemarketing companies pay BIG BUCKS nowadays for those lists!

Just an FYI.
