FDR's new deal created jobs and stabilized the economy - anony

in the great depression.  He created work programs to get people back to work along with social security, unemployment, etc.   He met with opposition, but this kind of government intervention was needed during this dire time.  There was 90% unemployment rate in some places.   The dust bowl was going on.   People were starving.  FDR's programs put them back to work.

There are 2 good films dealing with this:  "The Dust Bowl" a Ken Burns documentary and "When the World Breaks."   These contain interviews with people who went through the depression and the dust bowl.
