Unfortunately, "innocent until proven guilty" is a legal concept. If it is just a matter of loss of reputation, then it is only a legal matter if someone wants to sue for slander/libel.
Truth/proof has become entirely irrelevant. They accept it, regardless of lack of factual component because it says what they want to project.
