Social Security has a Compassionate Care program where is you have a dx on that list, you submit your medical records and they approve you within 10 days. You still have to wait six months for your first check, but the check is for all of those six months. I included the link. Also, food stamps has different rules when you are on SSDI so you get more generous benefits. It's worth looking into.
