This may be a little off topic, but I try not to spend more than - $1 per lb. on produce and $2 per lb.

on protein. Get my whole grains when they are on sale. I use coupons a lot. This is from a frugal site I visit.

We have tuna casserole a lot, and I often add peas or broccoli. It has protein, calcium and other vitamins. So-called "peasant food" is some of the best comfort food! Omelets are another great source of protein. You don't have to be a great cook to make these and they can be done on the stove top.

Cabbage rolls are good. The filling is basically rice and meat with some tomato sauce over the top. I know someone who used Brussell sprouts instead and made tiny little rolls.
