We should also ask the people on food stamps if they'd rather be starving. We could ask the people on welfare if they'd rather be homeless. When they say, "NO! I want to eat and I want a home!" We should accept that as proof the program is working and expand it to more people.

Sure we'll have a total economic collapse in a few years, but until then we'll be able to sleep better knowing we didn't hurt anyone's feelings along the way.
