Taxes pay for meals. No child should go hungry or feel less than because they don't have money. Young minds learn and become better citizens when their stomachs are not growling. There is always the option of packing your child a healthy lunch which skews the figures in this study a bit. The majority of the poor do rely on the free or reduced breakfasts and lunches, but many, many moms pack a lunch for their kids. The main issue is, children should not go hungry no matter their family circumstances. Having a free basic meal for students is a good thing.
