I'm amazed by how many people think others want to come here due to war or natural disasters in their home country.
Did Katrina, Sandy, or Harvey make displaced residents want to move to Canada, Germany, the UK, or Switzerland?
It's amazing how we imaging a USA-first mentality on people of other countries. If it's unthinkable to relocate Harvey victims to other countries, why would we expect people to want to relocate here? Isn't better to provide victims with local temporary shelter, food, and clothing and then let them go home and rebuild once the disaster is over? That's what we did with Katrina victims. It seems to be course we'll take with Harvey victims.
