If he couldn't admit he was wrong he wouldn't have replaced so many of his staff members and campaign officials. Those appointments were all decisions that he made. Changing them later (sometimes very quickly, the Mooch!) proves he was wrong about those decisions. Trump knew those changes would be broadcast by the media. That's a very public admission of him being wrong.
The inappropriateness and rallies are team building exercises. He's using them to push back against the media and let his supporters know he's still on their side. It's a declaration that Washington hasn't changed him.
In fact, if the media really wanted to get rid of Trump they'd change their coverage. He'd completely lose his base if the media fawned over him (like they did with Obama) and portrayed him as getting along with RINOs, Dems, and elites. He's safe, they'll never do that.
