...about the proposal to adopt a sensible immigration policy, which was today's political topic. The bleeding hearts in the media have done their damndest to make it look evil but have mostly fallen flat on their face. Let's not start wtih the poem engraved on Lady Liberty. That was authored at a time when there was no such thing as the welfare state.

I also have no objection to them having to be employed or at least have legal employment within a certain period of time.

The problem is we don't have a national language so how is that going to work? I did find this article regarding some states adopting a national language, but the federal government has never adopted it. Long ago, they were deciding between English or German since many of the people that came here were German speaking but nothing ever came of it.

The fact remains, we don't have a national language so again don't know how you can force people to speak a language that is not legally our national language.

Refugees pose another problem. These people are fleeing for their lives. How do you force them to learn English while dodging bombings, fearing for their lives, starving, etc.

As far as his claims we have always had weak immigration policies, well he just thinks he is the only one who can do it right. I beg to differ. We have very strong and lengthy immigration policies already in place. If he finds ways to improve it then good for him but to claim they are weak is him just blowing more hot air.

I haven't seen any media "making it look evil" but I think there are some constitutional questions that would need to be looked into before something like this could happen.

There you go. No wailing or gnashing of teeth, just some things that would have to be addressed.

You're creating a false equivalency. There doesn't need to be a national language for the government to tell foreigners they need to speak English if they want to come here.

You'll note that it requires people to "read, write, and speak basic English" even though English isn't legally our national language. Not only is it not being addressed. There's no need to address it.

Refugees are another false problem. They don't need to learn English and travel halfway across the world to come here. They can be safely housed closer to their homeland in neighboring stable countries. We can even contribute money to help them, over there. That will make it easier for them to return home and rebuild when the unrest subsides.

Then it's not a problem then, is it? It was - just a thought I had about it.

As far as refugees, I was referring to us taking refugees, not other countries. Other countries do take refugees but so do we. So we should just stop taking any of them in? I know you said we could send money there but we have sent money and supplies to other countries and it doesn't always get to those it is intended for. Not trying to be snarky, just wondering why we shouldn't bring them here where we know they are getting the food and supplies they need that we supply.

In fact, we stopped legal immigration from the 1920 to the 1960s to let them have time to assimilate. You had to learn to English and culture to become a citizen.

This isn't taught in school anymore.

Journalist don't know this. They push the narrative that this is about immigration.

The wretched and poor yearning to be free which the Statue of Liberty celebrates did not include large numbers of people who wanted to come to this country purposely to get on welfare.

Now we have hyphenated Americans competing - for victimhood.

Okay, weird question, but I'm wondering if your teeth shift around after a certain age (I'm 53). The reason is this. About 4 months or so ago I had a tooth that broke in half. It is one that has a filling. Went to the dentist and it cannot be repaired. It needs to be extracted and then I would get a bridge or partial. Okay, so I have finished all of my acute care course except for the externship. Now, why have I had to wait for 8 days, thus far, just sitting for the company to let me be a part of this?
