Ask the Gard's how that worked for them - Play with your own lives

[ In Reply To ..]
and leave the rest of us alone. Gard's were delayed through the Meatball Medicine process for so long, they were forced past the point of being able to help their son. If socialized medicine is so great, why should ANY parent have to sue to get care for their child? We all know what most Dems think of abortion, even late term, so I guess that thought follows through on the socialized medicine to kill those that Dems think deserve no place in society. Sad commentary on Dems and what THEY THINK others deserve in regards to care.

How do you equate Charlie Gard with - Single payer bad

[ In Reply To ..]
Their case has nothing to do with single payer, here or there.

Illogical conclusions that single payer here would equal death. Just not reasonable.

Are you a millionaire? There might be differences for them. Maybe you are just a wannabe. I think the Republican party has brainwashed many to think they can be one of the few...one of the 1%
Maybe if you were informed of GB socialized - medicine and the impact
[ In Reply To ..]
You would be able to answer your own question. Sadly, so few understand the damage or the extent of what socialized medicine does because, as so many on this board, are very poorly educated because they are brainwashed by those pushing it.

Socialized medicine = death (absolutely a connection and reasonable).
Maybe, just maybe - there is a way
[ In Reply To ..]
that can make it better, and I am darn sure that if anyone can come up with it it is Americans! We have been the leader in so many things for over 200 years, so maybe if these dang politicians could stop arguing for 5 minutes they could come up with something that would work better that would not be unaffordable and keep All Americans healthier and without having to file bankruptcy just because they get sick! Ya think that might be possible? I sure do! We just need somebody who is a Real leader to take it up without worrying about what political party they belong to for a darned change!!!!

Exactly! Hospitals as it is are operating in the red now, - medical products at about 9%, and

[ In Reply To ..]
even the “money grubbing” drug companies at about 14-15% margins. Contrast with other industries. How do they stay afloat?

Look at the NIH hospitals in Britain and contrast that with the hospitals with patients who pay. Yes, they do have those.

Even with adjustment for huge amounts of inflation medical costs 50 years ago were a fraction of what they are now. Why? Profit, tort, technology (some that isn’t even that useful and just has to be paid for), regulation, administration, more freeloaders, inefficiency, sloppiness and slothfulness to name a few.

We are not solving anything and we will not.

We don’t have a free market. We have what amounts to a mess of a system with lobbyists in collusion with politicians not being accountable to the sheeple.

BCBS was originally intended to be not for profit and for catastrophic care by the Truman administration. I also remind you that we didn’t talk about medical costs in the 50s and 60s much because there was little or no for profit medicine outside of the doctors practice. Hospitals were mostly not for profit. That all changed about 30 years ago and nobody even noticed. Now they charge people with insurance $75 for an aspirin to pay for those who get it for free.

It is already, It's called VA health care, Medicaid, - Medicare, etc. We already have

[ In Reply To ..]
socialized medicine.

We have had creeping socialized medicine for decades. It was Ted Kennedy’s plan to make health care so expensive and complicated via government involvement that eventually the result would be complete UK-style socialized medicine. Looks like his dream is about to come true.

It sounds like a health care cartel! - nm

Quentin Young is a founding member of PNHP and is - belongs to Democratic Socialist of

[ In Reply To ..]
America. Peter Orris, co-founded it and is also a member.

Quentin Young, Bill Ayers, and Barack Obama all lived in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Young attended the fund-raiser in communist and terrorist Bill Ayers home which launched Obama's political career. Obama was brought to that fund-raiser by Alice Palmer, a known communist.

Young also admired Fidel Castro.

Stanley Kurtz book "Radical-in-Chief" also has a lot about this.

Before you get single payer you have to repeal - Obamcare. The intent of

[ In Reply To ..]
Obamacare was for it to fail and single-payer to be imposed as the "simpler" alternative.

Socialized healthcare isn't really about healthcare. - It's about sneaking communism

[ In Reply To ..]
in through the back door. Raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Right. "Single-payer" was introduced to Obama through - communist Quentin Young long time ago

[ In Reply To ..]
in Chicago.

Dr. Young was active in the radical movements of the Sixties and Seventies and led a small delegation to Communist North Vietnam in 1972. In the late 1970s, Young became associated with a Marxist organization known as the New American Movement, which was initially convened by Michael Lerner, an America-hating radical who counseled young people to explore the use of LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs as portals to a greater comprehension of socialist principles.

In 1980 Young founded the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group, a single-payer lobby group whose Board of Directors he chairs to this day. In 1982 Young helped establish the Democratic Socialists of America, which, as the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International, asserts that "many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed." In 1987 Young co-founded Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), a single-payer advocacy organization where he currently serves as national coordinator. In PNHP’s view, government-run healthcare "should be financed by truly progressive taxation."

In 1995 Young attended the now-famous meeting at the Hyde Park home of former Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, where Barack Obama was first introduced to influential locals as the hand-picked successor to Alice Palmer, a pro-Soviet radical who planned to vacate her Illinois State Senate seat in pursuit of a higher elected office. Young quickly became a friend and political ally of Obama, teaching the latter about the merits of single-payer healthcare.
An even longer time ago healthcare for Americans - Who choose to have it
[ In Reply To ..]
Was introduced by Truman. 1945. I'm sure everyone could read that without a "communist" pointing it out to a scholar.

Roosevelt, Truman, etc. - Healthcare

[ In Reply To ..]
It's been on the minds of AMERICANS for very long time.
Interesting read. - Thanks for posting. nm

Single payer is a cute name for socialized medicine. - Ask people who want it if they

[ In Reply To ..]
want the courts deciding whether your child would live or die.

Since so many loving socialized medicine - fully embrace abortion

[ In Reply To ..]
even late term abortion, they probably do not care. Ask the Gard's what the courts did to them...presenting information in a court room, WITHOUT THE PARENTS PRESENT OR THE SAY SO, to determine the death of their child. Yeah - anybody supporting socialized medicine has some very, very serious mental issues. They cannot think through to the point that they themselves could very well be on the receiving end of a death sentence simply because the courts say so.

Determining brain death and turning off life support happens in the U.S. every day. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
This has nothing to do with Universal healthcare.

How in the heck - does the Charlie

[ In Reply To ..]
Gard story equate to abortion????Nobody, and I mean nobody is FOR abortion! Some people are just intelligent enough to know that women will get them regardless and it should be done in a safe way! Good gosh, stop saying anyone is FOR abortion. That is just plain not true!

If the Democrats want socialized medicine, then they should - rally to change the Constitution

[ In Reply To ..]
with an amendment because it is unconstitutional.

Those of us against it can us Charlie Gard can be our motto.

I'm for a universal sales tax and taxing benefits. - nm

Venzuela wanted socialism. In 2016 they ran out of other - people's money. The average

[ In Reply To ..]
Venezuelan lost 19 pounds.

They started taking company' property. The leaders got rich, but the people didn't. Some community organizers filtered bits to the people of Venezuela who were pretty happy about it.

It may be the future but it will bankrupt America. - Nations and empires fall apart

[ In Reply To ..]
when the costs of servicing their debts exceeds This is what happened to the Roman Empire and Soviet Union.

In order to enjoy an easier life right now, we will be leaving our children’s children with a $92 trillion debt.

Taxing the rich is not a solution either. If the gvt confiscates all income earned beyond $1 million, it will raise only 75% of the funds needed to finance the current government health-care system.

Bernie Sanders's single-payer healthcare plan will add $32 trillion in new costs over the next decade.

The Bible says a “good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” We are leaving nothing but massive debt.

I have read articles where docs do not like socialized healthcare. - They say it makes them a cog in the wheel

[ In Reply To ..]
Doctors already waste too much of their time filling out paperwork and jumping through bureaucratic hoops as it is. Socialized healthcare just makes this worse.

Just another flawed social program. Medicare is already going bankrupt It also shifts medical costs onto other paying customers, like Medicaid.

Single Payer For AllJul 26, 2017
If we really want single payer it makes sense to include items that will reduce the cost for everyone. 1. We need to remove malpractice insurance and malpractice lawsuits. If we left these in place we'd force doctors to practice defensive medicine. Anyone complaining of intercostal muscle strain must be kept overnight in the hospital and submit to a battery of tests to rule out a heart problem. 2. Speaking of heart problems... Most of those are due to a bad diet (not to mention obesi ...

Physicians For Single PayerJul 24, 2017
The program would be funded by the savings obtained from replacing today’s inefficient, profit-oriented, multiple insurance payers with a single streamlined, nonprofit, public payer, and by modest new taxes based on ability to pay. Premiums would disappear; 95 percent of all households would save money. Patients would no longer face financial barriers to care such as co-pays and deductibles, and would regain free choice of doctor and hospital. Doctors would regain autonomy over patient care. ...
