Russian interference

Posted: Jun 25, 2017

I'm an MT working 3 jobs and don't have as much time as I'd like to investigate, but I've looked into it as much as I can, and I still don't get what the problem with "Russian interference" in the 2016 election is. Who is elected POTUS profoundly affects virtually every nation of the world, so OF COURSE they care. And if they choose to devote massive amounts of money and energy to "propaganda" or "influence" campaigns, trusting "the numbers," well shame on us if we don't recognize it and make intelligent decisions. I for one know spin when I see it and am confident it does not influence my voting. If anything, recognizing where it is coming from adds to my arsenal of information. And, if our "adversaries" happen to unearth documentable malfeasance, THANK YOU FOR THAT. Anyway, spying is illegal, and tampering with voting apparatus is illegal, but having an opinion about an election and expressing it is not, no matter how much effort you put into getting that opinion heard. And if Russia, or any other country, launches a massive effort to influence American voting, one of the things I will be thinking about is why they would do that, which candidate potentially benefits or harms them most, and why. I suppose I should add that I have never thought of Russia as the boogieman. And I welcome opposing viewpoints:)

There was evidence of Russian meddling, but it didn't affect - the outcome of the election. Obama

meddled in Israel's election against Netanyahu using American taxpayer's money and it didn't change their election. It's not just the Russians who do it.

What they try to do is create chaos. But who is guilty of that now? These "resist" and "impeach" groups who cannot accept that they lost, comparing it to the French Resistance, which is a joke. That was about Hitler marching into France militarily. We had an election and they didn't like the outcome. In fact, this is the first time in our nation's history that power has not transferred from one President to the next peacefully.

What should infuriate Americans is the corruption in the media. They are biased and have done nothing but try to delegitimize President Trump since Nov. 8, even going so far as to make up stories. The good news is they are now getting caught. CNN just got caught making up a story about Trump and Russian investors. They had to retract the story. Then there are the "leaks."

US to buy Russian helicopters for Afghan air force The Pentagon plans to buy ten Russian military helicopters for Afghanistan's fledgling air force at a cost of $180 million (£119 million), ignoring protests from Congressmen who say US aircraft should be considered. Defence Department officials have argued that purchasing the M-17s would accelerate the handover of control to Afghan forces. Most Afghan pilots are in their 40s or older and have flown nothing else. A Russian warship entered the eastern Mediterranean Friday and was heading toward the area where two U.S. Navy destroyers launched missile strikes into Syria, Fox News has learned. Russian Embassy In UK Responds To Sanctions OfDec 30, 2016
The Russian response to Barack Obama’s announcement that he was expelling 35 diplomats over the alleged cyber attack on the US election, was fast, and in some cases, rather amusing. As officials in Moscow said that US diplomats would be ordered to leave in a tit-for-tat response, the Russian Embassy used Twitter to make its point with little panache. “President Obama expels 35 🇷iplomats in Cold War deja vu. Everybody, including the American people, will be glad to see the last of th ...

Why Are The Russian Threats Of Nuclear War Receiving So LittleOct 14, 2016
It might be that Putin is bluffing, of course, but if so it would seem very foolish on his part if he had to back down - and I don't think he'd paint himself into that kind of a corner. He's not a fool. Even so, it still shouldn't be a back-page story IMHO, because this goes along with the polls showing that the Russian populace has been "educated" by their government to believe that the United States is their greatest enemy. We haven't had this kind of overt ...
