Invitation to Tribalism: Party-Think and

Posted: May 29, 2017

Even as I write this, most of you already secretly know that what I am about to say is true:

You subscribe to a tribe and everything is viewed/interpreted/understood within the framework of the tribe.

As such, you are without the slightest doubt the slaves and bots of the tribe.  You will view everything from the tribe perspective.  You will post to FB and other social media whatever (true or not) advances the tribe's position.

You are, in fact, the unwitting idiot exemplars of the Soviet prescription of a useful idiot.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:  You might learn how to think for yourselves.  This could require that you enrol in a course of logic, analysis or whatever, but the fact is that most of us HAVE NEVER BEEN TRAINED in logical analysis because that is the ALINSKY pathway to the dominance of the ignorant electorate...of which YOU are an unwitting participant because it is so much more lovely to believe whatever you already believe and to accept whatever "evidence" supports your position - even if it is a total lie.

I am disgusted by the gullibility of the modern electorate - yes, and that means YOU.

That looks to be posted by a party-bot - of the conservative kind

and, I have no tribe...really, and it is lonely. It would be so much easier for everything to be black and white by tribal lines of thought. If only I could find someone that I could stomach that would tell me what to think.

I know for sure I can't stomach the conservatives--that don't give a rat's patoutie about people--just money. Even when they are doing charity work, it is about power and money--they get to give it to who they want to give it to (and pat themselves on the back for being so generous).

Democrats are just as insidious as the aforementioned, although I find their commonplace members more palatable--they are frequently actually charitable and working for the "common good." Problem is that "common good" gets muddied with the upper echelon desires of power and money.

I find most people just don't know how to go it alone. It is tiresome, constantly having to weed through the crap to get to the real meaning of the articles, making sure you don't fall for the MSM BS and then having to find alternate sources of everything. You are pretty much doomed from real logic if you only read one source. And, of course, you have to figure out, EVERY TIME, what that source has vested. Exhausting.

But, really, posting on MT Stars is easier, cuz everybody is so aligned. It is really a sport here. It is more like poking a bear...stupid giant animal that can't quite maneuver fast enough to get to the source of its irritation.

Generally speaking, people choose a team - for one reason or another

[ In Reply To ..]
In politics it's Demoncrats vs Republicans. Maybe you choose a team because of the leader (Hillary vs Trump) or just because that team backs up your beliefs (abortion vs pro-life).

Same with sports teams.

I have switched teams, both political and sports. Loved Obama, could not stomach Hillary, switched to Trump. Too bad we only have 2 sides to choose from but the corrupt political system makes the rules that excludes independents from winning.

Nope...I will not succomb to team sports - Mentality...

There does become a preponderance of issues that makes the vote and support, but maybe you were just giving one issue examples for ease of understanding?

My feeling, honestly, if you really, really allow yourself to examine politics...you would not vote for anyone. Lesser of evils, or better than somebody else is most often the deciding factor. But, this does create anger, particularly at those who pick a team and cheer to the death, oblivious to any outside factors.
I was giving examples of why people join team - A lot of people I know gave up voting
[ In Reply To ..]
The only reason I voted this year is because I absolutely believe Hillary is corrupt and part of the problem and I had hoped Trump could make a change. I also was impressed that he would not need special interest money.

I will never vote for a career politician again or the lesser of 2 evils.
I respect your answer even if I don't - agree with the end result.lol

The end result of Hillary vs Trump - you preferred Hillary

Too much shade and smoke surrounding the Clintons for years, in particular that excuse for private server and Clinton Foundation.
No, I rejected that end result. Voted Green - Working on 5%

Invitation: Shake Off The Chains Of Party Affiliation.Mar 03, 2015
I've lived a long time, and in that time I've learned three things: 1.  Conservatives are right - about some things. 2.  Liberals are right - about some things. 3.  There's an awful lot about the world that we just don't know for certain. I'm going to make a wild guess here, and you tell me if I'm wrong.  The guess consists of a premise and an issue. PREMISE:  You are a committed "conservative" or "liberal". ISSUE:  There are time ...

The Tea Party (disgusting And Full Of Vitrole And Hatred) Are Not The Republican Party HopefullyApr 17, 2011
I hope with everything I have in me that the Tea Party does not represent the Republican Party. This is what the Tea Party stands for. They are full of vitriole and hatred. This is not what the Republican party stands for. See comments by Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh, "It's just highly inappropriate, it's a despicable message, it drips with racism and I think she should step down from the committee," said Baugh. "Davenport, a tea party activist, represents t ...

Birthday PartyDec 11, 2009
My son, who is turning 14 on Sunday, invited 12 of his friends from school over tonight for a sleepover pizza/birthday party.  I figured that out of the 12 he invited, at least a few wouldn't be able to make it.  The last few years he has only invited 6 or 7.  Can you believe that all 12 showed up!  The noise level is ridiculous, but everybody is having a lot of fun.   Gonna go take some pictures in a minute.      ...

Obama & New PartyJun 07, 2012
On the evening of January 11, 1996, while Mitt Romney was in the final years of his run as the head of Bain Capital, Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today’s headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States tow ...

I found this opinion piece interesting. Here are a couple excerpts: "The perception that the IRS targeted conservative groups is certainly cause for concern, but liberal folks like Jon Stewart and Chris Matthews should stop hyperventilating on the perception of political targeting and look more closely on what this extra scrutiny actually looked like." "While it’s important that the Obama Administration answer questions about their involvement and knowledge of this targeting, it’s also ...
