"GOP Rep Tells Mom Her Son On Medicaid Should Just Get A Better Job If He Wants Health Care."

;

Yes I wish I was rich and could afford a better car - and being an MT I am not going to get rich

I wish my health insurance was cheaper as the rates keep going up since Obamacare.

I also wish everyone had housing in safe neighborhoods because every morning I hear about someone getting shot in impoverished neighborhoods.

Speaking of poverty, I wish everyone had a decent job they enjoyed working at and it paid a living wage. I personally am on my way to poverty as more work is being shipped offshore and ASR and modern technology is reducing the need for MTs. Guess I need to look for another job right?

I also wish everyone could send their children to private schools where primary focus is on college and there are smaller classrooms.

Knowing MT pay has been going down, I know if I want certain things, I need to change occupations. It's not rocket science.

Should I hold the government responsible they are not looking out for me?

We do all wish a lot - of things

The point of my post is that it shows how out of touch these people are. Millions of people would love to have jobs that paid well and provided insurance but they have to feed their families so they take what they can get.

Rates on insurance were going up and up long before the ACA. You can believe the Republican talking points if you want though, that's your right. Before the ACA, many companies worked you under 40 hours so they didn't have to provide benefits, now they have to work you under 30 hours so that's a good thing; again, believe it or not. More people have insurance now than ever before; the pubs even know that.

To answer your question, I would rather see the government looking out for the average Joe than the greedy corporations who claim what a burden the ACA is on them when their raking in huge profits and CEOs are taking home millions and millions in bonuses while crying the blues about having to treat their employees fairly.

Which average Joe should the government look out for? - My insurance is specifically going up AFTER ACA

and my pay rate is going down. Should I get another job that pays better so I can afford my insurance? And speaking of another job that pays better, where are they?
I don't know where the good paying jobs - are

Your pay rate was going down long before the ACA as were most of ours. Insurance rates were specifically going up BEFORE ACA.

The union busting, right to work republican states made sure there are no high paying jobs and the republican governments that didn't take the Medicaid expansion are causing people in those states higher than normal rates for their citizens.

Maybe you need to ask Donald where all the jobs are. I know a lot of his jobs are in China and Vietnam and other countries that pay their employees peanuts. I also know every time the democrats tried to put legislation in that would punish companies that take their jobs overseas it was shot down by the republicans.

I guess that gives you a start on who you can ask your questions to.
My job was going downhill since offshoring - was allowed of American medical records.

Donald Trump has been president for less than 100 days but there are some career politicians on both sides of the aisle as well as past presidents who were in charge of making offshoring rules and regulations. Wasn't it Bubba Clinton who started this whole thing with NAFTA?

My insurance costs have gone up specifically with ACA. They were steady for years before Obamacare. It is like this for people who are younger and healthy with no pre-existing conditions who are absorbing the cost of insurance for those who have pre-existing condition and are using the healthcare system and the insurance.
Yes Bill Clinton did sign - NAFTA

"Twenty years ago, Ross Perot warned that NAFTA would create a “giant sucking sound,” draining millions of jobs from the American heartland. But between 1994 and 2000, the American economy created 2 million jobs annually." https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2013/11/24/what-weve-learned-from-nafta/ross-perot-was-wrong-about-nafta

It of course depends on what site you look at on how NAFTA fared. But most of the sites I see do say we benefited from NAFTA. There were other factors in job losses. We lost some but we gained many. Just because we have a trade deficit doesn't mean we didn't gain jobs.

As far as who started offshoring in modern times, that would be Ronald Regan who opened up that door with manufacturing jobs. http://borderlessnewsandviews.com/2012/02/08/how-reagan-sold-the-united-states-piece-by-piece/

Though we do have a huge trade deficit, the question is are we willing to pay more for things being made here? Are we willing to work for less than we already do? This is a link from the census bureau that shows statistics on trade. Maybe our republican congress will work with this president since they weren't willing to work with Obama on bringing jobs back but I doubt it. They have an agenda and aren't about to do anything to hurt their wealthy buddies who are benefiting from offshoring, including Trump.

As far as the ACA, we'll just agree to disagree.

Everything is subject to interpretation - including varying costs of ACA

Hoping for the best from Trump for the 50% of people who voted for him. Looking forward to his plan for tax cuts.

With all the jobs reportedly created, I see a lot of small businesses going bust because of the economy and consumers looking for bargains no longer able to support small local business. I know more than a few college educated people losing white collar jobs.

I think statistics do not give a real picture any more than polls and I have very little trust in them and my distrust is founded on the 2016 election.
I think it was - more like

40% voted for Trump but it doesn't matter, what's in a statistic, right.

I also see a lot of retail jobs being lost due to online shopping. There are many reasons why we are losing jobs but they are not necessarily due to NAFTA. That is what I was pointing out in my post.
I have no idea aside from spin and statistics - how many voted for Trump.

I am guessing Trump focused on where he needed to in order to get the electoral votes which according to the rules is what he needed. I do know Trump had supporters who are counting on him keeping his promises. I am one of them.

It is not so much I liked Trump but I saw Hillary as corrupt politics business as usual. I mean she had been in politics for years and we are still in a mess so obviously she was part of the problem and not the solution. Democrats ran the wrong candidate and that is why Trump won.

As far as retail jobs being lost, I used to shop at unique local businesses before my pay was cut because "I needed to remain in competitive pay range with the Indian workers doing MT work." So I am guessing a lot of people are out there like me taking cuts in hours and pay with no raise in years who will shop at the cheapest place to buy what they need including on-line. So the middle class pay cuts and no raises are affecting not just me but there is a domino effect on the economy.

No, statistics (or polls) do not matter to me as much as what I experience in real life. Depending on who is reporting the polls and statistics they can be spun to meet their needs.
Look at the election results, that will tell - you. Not a statistic or poll nm

Electoral college was what counted and Trump - played his cards and focused.

Hillary thought she did not have to try so hard because she believed she would have the women's vote and ethnic vote.

Aside from that, she relied on big bucks contributions from Hollywood, etc and their endorsements would mean something. Obviously she misjudged what would get her electoral votes.

Bad decisions all around by the Democrats, running Hillary with her baggage and thinking celebrity endorsements may change voters minds.
We were talking about the 40% of popular - vote.

Bad decisions all around for the pubs putting this lunatic in office. Anyway, we weren't even talking about Hillary but I guess you feel the need to put that in.
Of course you were inferring Hillary got the popular vote, - and I explained why Hillary lost the electoral vot

It's quite simple. Unless of course lefties do not want to be reminded of her loss because of her extremely shady background and her and her team's lack of understanding what it took to get the electoral vote which was the KEY TO WINNING.
I wonder if the 3-5 million votes that were - mt

claimed to be fraudulent will ever be brought up again. I saw someone on TV awhile back who said he had a group that was working on proof of this and should have the proof in a few months.
