The family business

Posted: Mar 27, 2017

According to the article "President Donald Trump will name his son-in-law, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, to lead a new office responsible for streamlining and overhauling the federal government."

The article also says "We should have excellence in government," Kushner told The Post in an interview Sunday. "The government should be run like a great American company. Our hope is that we can achieve successes and efficiencies for our customers, who are the citizens."

I believe they are full of it.  America is not a company and we certainly are not their customers.  They are employed by us and we need to be letting them know how our money should be spent.

I'm so sick of this clan.

You need to look no further than the Kennedy clan. - JFK hires his brother Robert to be

AG. He had no experience whatsoever.

What punishment did Ted Kennedy get for asking Russia to intervene in our U.S. elections to get back at Reagan? This was treason.

How about the Michael Skagel murder case of Martha Moxley? GUILTY. It was covered up by the Kennedys for years, as he was a nephew.

Kennedy clan.

With that thinking, then of course - anonon

it must be okay for Trump to do all of this since 50 years ago the Kennedy clan did it? Common sense says that it is never right. We cannot go back in time and change what happened 50 years ago, when government was less transparent and rich people really did get away with murder, but we are supposed to have learned from past mistakes and should now oppose such things in our government. Just because SOME people support the man does not make him right in everything he is doing and needs to be held accountable. Otherwise 50 years from now our children will be saying the same things about another corrupt president.

100% true what you - are saying

[ In Reply To ..]
Many of those on the right voted for him because he was going to fix government. We all know there is corruption on both sides, yet he claimed he was going to fix this. Now, I do not and never did believe he was going to fix it but he is taking corruption to an even higher level than it was. He was going to drain the swamp yet he has expanded the swamp.

He and folks on the right constantly criticized Obama for his vacations yet he uses his hotel in Florida to make profit off his presidency and we all pay the ridiculous amount of money for him to do this. He is golfing on our dime every weekend.

He is turning our White House into a family business and is not even hiding it and those on the right see nothing wrong with it. He is giving his daughter an office at the White House in a non-professional capacity and she still runs her business. He knows how to do it so they can get away with it. His sons are off doing company business on our dime and nobody on the right seems bothered by it.

If you on the right are bothered by the Kennedy's, then how is it that you don't seem bothered by what Trump is doing? He is taking corruption to a whole new level.

I'm not particularly fond of the whole "run the country like a business" garbage. This man has had 4 bankruptcies with his businesses, not a real warm and fuzzy feeling. He ran a fraud with trump university which he settled (after saying he would NEVER settle). His business failures never effected me personally. This is a country though, where I live and now his decisions and actions effect me personally. Not impressed with his track record as a businessman, less impressed with him as a "president". He needs to focus on running a country and not ruining yet another business.

In retrospect - the Kennedys

[ In Reply To ..]
look like scholars and statesmen, despite all their many flaws, compared to what we have now. At least they had qualifications for office and a calling to service. This Trump gang are profiteers and that's about all.
And - old and burned out

Lyndon Johnson had his Abe Fortis who was essentially a crook.

Many of Trump's children's politics are to the left.

There is malicious innuendo on the left and thus they are transparent hypocrites on the point of Trump. I don't like nepotism in any family, left or right.

Don't know what it will take - Resist Trump

for Trump supporters to realize what he is really like. Their answer to everything he does is to bring up the past. He is our reality now and nothing in the past justifies what he is doing. Do they have to breathe in pure coal dust before they realize what he is trying to do to the environment? Do they have to be paying more taxes than the billionaires to know that something in unfair? And who elected his damn family?

Typical leftist propaganda.

[ In Reply To ..]
what color or religion anyone is in the office??????????????????? NONE. Just because trump and his followers want an entirely white country, most of us don't mind diversity or ethnicity. That was just a judgmental thing to say. I'd rather be a left/alt-left/lib, whatever, than anything of what the right represents on this board.
Ooh, that's a racist thing to say - about Trump.

Hypocrisy? Yes, indeed!

Hardly the same thing - Resist Trump

[ In Reply To ..]
You obviously do not like Obama, or Blacks, or Muslims; that is your problem. However, Obama's appointments were qualified - whether you agree with their politics or not. The only qualification of some of Trump's appointments is that they are family members.

Ha! Joke is on all of you. - I, Just Sayin, am black.

[ In Reply To ..]
Actually, mixed race.

You have fallen back on your typical liberal mainstay. When all else fails, charge racism.
I'm confused - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
so why would you say those things regarding race and religion? Like the other poster said that's insignificant, it's qualifications, family members, not skin color or religious beliefs. I didn't vote trump obviously, I don't want him in office let alone his entire family. Can you see where people are unhappy about this?
and you missed the point that Obama's - appointee's were
[ In Reply To ..]
qualified.

By the way, there are black racists too.
And I'm Jewish - Burt the Cat
[ In Reply To ..]
and I know Jews who are anti-Semitic. If the extreme dislike (euphemism) for Obama is just about politics then why do I see so many references on this board to other things - like the way he and his family look, insinuating they are Muslims, saying they don't know how to dress, etc. What does all that have to do with his politics?

The only family member...sm - VTMT

associated with the Obama White House was Michelle's mother, who looked after the girls and received no salary.

After the Kennedy presidency where Jack Kennedy appointed Bobby to be his attorney general, Congress passed a law making it illegal for a president to appoint family members. The lines have now become very blurred. Is it ok for a family member to have a position if they don't get paid? What about in-laws?

As you say, the lines are blurred - Resist Trump

[ In Reply To ..]
and not being paid means they do not have to abide by the rules that a paid person would. This isn't a family, it's a gang and I don't know how this is being allowed to happen. Yes - I do know but wish I didn't.
This gang knows how to get around - rules
[ In Reply To ..]
This administration is the reason they need to re-think and re-do rules about being president, like no conflict of interest. I really didn't realize that wasn't a rule before this presidency and can't believe it isn't. To me, the president and vice president should absolutely be held to that rule.

this gang sure is testing the lines.
There are several words - Resist Trump

I could use to describe what this gang is getting away with - disgusting being one. Yet Trump supporters are still cheering.

How Do You Allow Your Dog To Do Their Business?Feb 16, 2010
So to those who do own dogs, do you walk them, tie them to a tree/lead or just let them wander around the yard (hopefully a fenced yard) on their own? While I was growing up, we raised 3 dogs and all lived to be from 14-17 yo. They were always walked several times a day no matter what the weather was. Never did we have them outside in a yard, nor did we have them tied to a tree or anything else. To my parents, tying them up and allowing them be alone outside was just unthinkable. How Much Does A Business Have To Make Before It Does Not Have To Pay TaxesApr 05, 2011
We've been asking the wrong question. My family has a business. We hire people, so according to the current standards, we should not have to pay taxes. We are creating jobs. However, we have not yet reached that magic number. It's  higher than most of you think. You have to make more than a million a year, much more than that probably, before you get to stop paying taxes. Before you get to that point, you get to save money in other ways. For some of the businesses and government agencies that surround President Trump’s “Winter White House,” the effects of his frequent weekend getaways to Mar-a-Lago can best be told in numbers. $200,000 in lost fuel sales at a large local airport in a single four-day visit this month. 75 no-shows at a new restaurant in just one night. $60,000 a day to pay overtime to sheriff’s deputies who guard the many closed roads, a tab that is about $1.5 million over all ...
