How about a national Obamacare waiver?

Posted: Mar 25, 2017

nearly 20 percent of exemptions from Pelosi's crowning health care achievement were doled out in her backyard. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's home state—received a partial statewide Obamacare waiver, too. If you're keeping score, Reid was Pelosi's counterpart in the Senate fighting to get Obamacare passed into law. Now his state will be one of three to get a waiver from the law's requirements, while the rest of America suffers. Why did Nevada get a waiver? The Sun reports that HHS found that some of the law's implementation requirements "may lead to the destabilization of the individual market." Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) said that that's all the more reason why Obamacare should be repealed: "It is becoming increasingly clear how flawed this law really is . . . Not only did it cut a half trillion dollars from Medicare, impacting thousands of Nevada's seniors, now the law would have driven health insurers out of our state if a reprieve had not been granted . . . This is why 'Obamacare' will not work for Nevada." But Pelosi's district and Reid's home state aren't the only ones getting waivers. There are others getting a break from the law, too—big corporations and labor unions. askheritage.org;

backwards and out of control.

Modern society is a mix of 3 economic systems: Socialism, Capitalism and Corporatism.

In Capitalism the government is an impartial referee. The Congress creates rules that apply equally to all with no bill of attainder. The league office applies those rules equally to everyone. The referee and umpire apply those rules equally to all.

In Corporatism, the government favors one side or the other in the game. Some governments are like homer umps who don’t want to upset the fans. Some governments never call a foul on the star, or enough fouls to put him on the bench. That is usually due to the favored player bringing in the money.
Some governments favor the underdog, never challenging him to play his best. This is often seen in youth sports and amateurs in politics.

In Socialism, the government goes beyond favoring one side and actually becomes a player in the game.

Post WWII Corporatism has been on the rise at the expense of Capitalism. Any time you hear of a Public-Private partnership you can bet that the government is playing favorites. The bailout was corporatism. Cash for Clunkers and ACA were Corporatism. Dodd-Frank is Corporatism.

Dodd-Frank favors big banks over small banks. In fact, any big government activity is always going to favor the big player over the small player. Only small, local government can favor a small player.

Corporatists tell Socialists they care about the poor. Corporatists wear political correctness on their sleeve. But hidden up their sleeve is unfairness.

Corporatists tell Capitalists they are private enterprise and should be supported.

Both Socialists and Capitalists have a common enemy and don’t realize it. When Socialists see a Corporatist they dont like they mistakenly scream capitalist. When Capitalists see a Corporatist they dont like they mistakenly scream Socialist.

Today's socialists think they can make socialism work - because they are "smarter than

every socialist before us who has failed."

But one thing is sure, any govt official who claims the permanent solution to problems is another government program probably also believes that we are winning the war on drugs, or worse thinks they know how to win it. With more drugs?

All these welfare programs were meant to be temporary. What I dont like - about them is they undermine the work ethic.

[ In Reply To ..]
We have a safety net as a society but people shouldn't stay on it forever. I don't want to live off the hard work of others.

Obamacare both versions, because of the welfare provision over time, is going to increase the need to raise taxes or borrow more money to pay for it. My grandchildren are the ones who will really be hurt.

Replace "work ethic" with "capitalism" and/or 1% - Nm

our youth will not work at the lesser wages because they are too good for it.

The people on welfare that don't work are usually unable to make enough to make a difference, such as keeping up with childcare and having anything left over, et cetera.

You are absolutely correct. - sm

Why didn't Clinton's welfare-to-work program carry on? Instead, we have a disincentive to work. A lot of young people today have no ambition or work ethic. They don't even know what it is.

a federal government exercising powers beyond its mandate. We have history to tell us about entrenched bureaucracies. We have history to tell us about unaccountable arms of government.

I see this as a Civil War. So many people do not understand - Constitutional authority.

Like this "discussion" on healthcare.

So many want to discuss it from a policy level, how the GOP needs to address certain policy issues such that they can then pass the "best" healthcare act.

Little to no discussion on whether there is a constitutional authority problem. Just accept the premise that the federal government needs to be involved and go from there.

Bring up the Constitutional authority question, and they go berserk.

This is a primal conflict between a totalitarian system and a representative republic form of system.

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...
