New Yorkers who don't vote should pay $10 fine.

Posted: Mar 19, 2017

legislation this week that would establish “compulsory voting” in the state and punish those who don’t vote with a $10 fine. On the face of it, it looks a lot like Australia’s compulsory voting law. Wait a minute. I thought people can’t afford to get an identification form, like a license, to prove they are eligible to vote. So how the heck can they afford a fine. She hates the poor! One of the Kennedys thinks the govt should own our organs by default. I guess if the govt can force you to buy health insurance, they can force you to buy anything. ;

It is indeed compulsory to vote in Australia. - I didn't know that. The fine is $26.

Mandatory voting was also in the Soviet Union and it's satellites, as if that made any difference.

State Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr is the Kennedy who - wants to give state government control

[ In Reply To ..]
over what happens to citizens’ organs after they die.

Kennedy recently introduced SB 750, which would automatically enroll Connecticut’s citizens in the organ donation program.

The state can control your organs after you die, but they can extend no protections to the person in your womb?

The left is full of contradictions. Recreational narcotics are okay, but we need a sin-tax on sugar soda and candy. They say the sugar soda and candy is bad for us (scientifically true statement) yet they oppose any effort to prevent the use of food stamps to purchase junk food. The list is endless.

I recall the flack over VP Dick Cheney when he received someone's heart and the argument was who died in his place.

The proposed law in Connecticut supposedly permits the individual to opt out of the program at will. I have some concern that the privacy of the individual will not be respected given the leaks we have seen from gun registries etc. and the leaks we have seen of government records concerning individuals in the Trump administration.

Time for 3D organs?

The apple doesn't fall far - from the tree

As A Conservative And Gun-owner I'm Fine With RestrictingJun 17, 2016

To Be Honest, I'd Be Fine If We Split The CountryDec 08, 2015
Split it top to bottom in the middle so each new country has a coastline, and borders with Canada and Mexico.  Let the liberals migrate to Liberalania, and conservatives to Conservania.  Independents can choose, but the choice is irrevocable.  Then, let's see which nation prospers and which does not. First, I know where most independents will choose to go, and it ain't Liberalania.  Second, I advise Conservania, as its first official act, to build a very, very, ve ...

What's A Good Conditioner For Fine, Limp, Tangly Hair?Jan 17, 2010
I've always had troublesome hair - thin, fine, limp, tangles at every turn of my head.  Conditioners are a must or I could never comb it at all.  Most conditioners are too thin, runny and wimpy for my hair, and it takes me forever to comb it out (my hair is really long, down to my fanny, and straight as a board).   Every time I find a product that works in my hair, they take it off the market, it drives me nuts!  My current product is Pantene conditio ...

Regardless of whether or not you will vote for the office of president, there are other offices which need votes. There are issues of various types, local and state issues, that need a vote as well. In my state of Ohio, each local county PAYS for the cost in that county. Whether anybody shows up or not, the polls are still open, the poll workers still get paid. The polling machines are still rented. In short, there is a minimum cost to run the election. In my state, if there is not enough of ...

From Smithsonian.com: "The answer, it turns out, has a lot to do with buggies and farmers markets. One of those issues involved the timing of federal elections. As a quick fix, they decided to leave it to individual states to set their own voting days, which led to several decades of &ldqu ...

Looks Like Democrats Have The 60-vote Majority!Nov 21, 2009
