phone carrier wised up - hopeful

Posted: Mar 15, 2017

I called my phone carrier (one of the large ones) and was answered immediately, no waiting, no switching.  One person covers all deparements.  They cover their state, I thought wow, great!  If a large company like this with about 45,000 employees can fix this we could be headed in a new direction.  No more foreign speaking people who I don't understand to annoy me.  This means people in the US will have these jobs!!!  I learned more about my phone in 5 minutes than I have in 10 years, and was in a good mood when I got off the phone.  Great ending to a long day with MM.

Either they are figuring people are tired of being annoyed and maybe hurting their business, or outsourcing could be dealt with to employee the US again.

With a lot of - them

it's been like that for quite a while. Also, if you get annoyed by the foreigner, you can ask for someone from the US. I've done that a few times when "Phil" answered and I couldn't understand him.

Those people were always there and you just didn't know it. I seriously doubt that they just recently hired 45,000 people who speak English as a first language and I seriously doubt if that number is correct. I also doubt if they are going to fire staff and replace them with people who speak our language, I think that's big time discrimination. There are already a number of companies who have US based customer service; regional cable and phone companies, Apple computer, Discover and probably many others. Like someone else said, if I can't understand them, I ask for someone else, i don't care if they speak with an accent as long as we can communicate.

For this poster, who has been without insurance for a while now and is panicked at really needing immediate medical care, I CANNOT WAIT to see how this plan pans out. My Mom And Her Cell PhoneJan 07, 2015
After years of hounding my mom and dad about not having a cell phone especially when driving long distances in our cold, wintry state, my mom actually went out all on her own  and bought an inexpensive prepaid cell phone. She is very proud of the fact that she has a cell phone and knows how to add minutes, etc. The problem is that she will NOT turn it on because it "runs down the battery." My brothers and I have explained about the cell phone charger until we are practically blue in the fac ...

RETURNING PHONE CALLSMay 25, 2011
If you leave a message that you need someone to call you back, how much time goes by before they are just being rude for not getting back to you?  My sister-in-law screens her calls and half the time doesn't answer the phone, then doesn't call back.  After four days of waiting the last time I sent her an E-mail by way of her daughter (she doesn't have a computer) and she got a little huffy with me.  Am I being difficult?  ...

What's A Good Phone Company?Mar 09, 2010
I live in eastern PA and have been with Verizon for over 35 years.  I have been late in paying the bill lately because of my work situation. Today, my son emailed me and told me my phone was disconnected. Huh? I set up electronic payments 2 weeks ago to automatically come out yesterday and this Thursday with a live person. So I called. The aggravation of having to go through those 'answering machines' to get to a live person was enough to make me flip. THEN, the person I tal ...

Fixed A Submerged Phone For 69 Cents, WowSep 08, 2011
Thought I'd share this neat little trick I learned from my BFF:  Accidentally dropped my home phone into the bath-tub, yanked it out immediately, but the damage was already done.  Still had a dial tone, but no display screen.  I tell my friend, she tells me to get a bag of rice, put the phone in a air-tight bowl, and dump the rice all over it.  Well, to my amazement, less than an hour later, all fixed like it never happened.  I'm quite amaz ...

NSA Phone Collection Records IlegalMay 07, 2015

Anyone Here Have Experience With Someone Monitoring Their Bank And Phone Records?Jul 11, 2015
There is someone around me who I believe gains access to my bank and phone records.  I have no proof, only my instincts which I do trust.  What I want to know is this:  Is there a way to only give out a masked phone number when I apply for jobs and do business with places?  One that cannot be breached by someone calling and pretending to be me or otherwise convincing someone to give the information?  In other words, a service like this that does not store my info, so the ...
