Trump fires U.S. attorneys

Posted: Mar 11, 2017

This is not unusual except that the attorney featured in this article had been previously asked by Donald Trump to stay on in his administration.  This attorney was also in a position to investigate Trump's dealings in NY.  Since the right loves conspiracy theories, how about this one?

;

Skullduggery here no doubt. - NOT

If it were this easy to quash an investigation there would be none at all.

If you are referring to Preet Bharara, he seems to be willing - to prosecute corrupt Democrats,

[ In Reply To ..]
which is unusual, including how Dianne Feinstein's hubby got so rich by using her elected office.

Her hubby Richard Blum made million as the lawyer for Chinese interests and from tax-funded govt contracts;

1993, Attorney General seeks resignation from - prosecutors.

[ In Reply To ..]
WASHINGTON, March 23— Attorney General Janet Reno today demanded the prompt resignation of all United States Attorneys, leading the Federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia to suggest that the order could be tied to his long-running investigation of Representative Dan Rostenkowski, a crucial ally of President Clinton.

Jay B. Stephens, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, who is a Bush Administration holdover, said he had advised the Justice Department that he was within 30 days of making a "critical decision" in the Rostenkowski case when Ms. Reno directed him and other United States Attorneys to submit their resignations, effective in a matter of days.

While prosecutors are routinely replaced after a change in Administration, Ms. Reno's order accelerated what had been expected to be a leisurely changeover. . .

Guess who isn't on the list. The Oregon - prosecutor in the Malheur case.

[ In Reply To ..]
I think Sessions might have been one of those lawyers since his times as a US Attorney ended in 1993.

Fact:
Janet Reno said that Donald Trump would never be president while she was alive.

She died the day before Trump got elected president.

It is common practice to replace US attorneys. The interesting thing here is that Preet Bharara was specifically asked to stay on by DT and now is abruptly fired. It does make you wonder what he was working on.

I think it's simple. He was asked to step down and he - refused. No mystery.

He wasn't asked to step down at first. - Resist Trump

He was specifically asked to stay on - until now. Not saying this means anything, just wondering.
Pres. Trump did not reassure Mr. Bharara his job. He let his - AG decide. What is the point of
[ In Reply To ..]
being fired rather than to resign other than getting publicity? He let go of all the other Obama appointees too. He didn’t single this guy out.

Potential leaks.

Why would anyone want to publicly announce he was fired? Aside from attention-seeking?
Good riddance. He's the one who brought charges against - Dinesh D’Souza for his anti-Obama film.
[ In Reply To ..]
Preet was likely in on government spying on Trump. Now it’s starting to make sense.

He went to prison for "illegal campaign contributions" while the Clintons got away with illegal Chinese contributions.

Dinesh wrote at length about how Bharara insisted on maximum punishment for a technical violation of the campaign finance laws that should have, at worst, drawn a small fine and a reprimand.

It’s hard for me to form a mental picture of Bharara as some kind of moral paragon. Based on Dinesh’s account, I don’t get the impression that he would be trustworthy in a GOP administration.

Thanks, it's clear now. There is no way an unbiased prosecutor would single out - D'Souza and ignore all the corrupt
[ In Reply To ..]
Democrat donors in NYC.

We all know that if this prosecutor had investigated Hillary and the Clinton Foundation with any serious intent, Hillary would be doing time in prison just like Dinesh. We hate the selective investigating and prosecuting which always seems to favor the liberal side.
Bharara was an apprentice of Schumer. - Nuff said.
[ In Reply To ..]
Too bad for Bharara that he didn’t bring charges against deBlasio when he had the opportunity.
Actually, - Resist Trump

he was also investigating DeBlasio fundraisers.

Where were all the sob stories in the NYT when - Clinton fired all the US

desperately to see what is going to be done. As we understand it, the protocol has been that U.S. Attorneys would hand in their resignations and would give the new administration an opportunity to make new appointments, we don’t see that happening quite fast enough,"

"There is a danger with some of them being left there. So whatever you can do to move them we appreciate it," she said.

It's just more media hypocrisy/hysteria - that routine things done by many previous Presidents is suddenly controversial because Donald Trump is doing it.

Same with the travel moratorium.

Short memories. The media ignored Clinton firing 93 - while fretting over 8 the Bush fired.

[ In Reply To ..]
It is surprising to me Bush did that. No wonder he never got much of his agenda litigated when he needed it.

Contrast him with Obama - Obama wasn’t taking ANY chances at all, even on the ones that Bush had kept from Clinton.....

Slick Willie fired them all with no regard to - who appointed them.

Another fact that the ALT LEFTIES ignore routinely - Especially since it does not fit

[ In Reply To ..]
into their pathological hatred towards Trump, conservatives, and Republicans. Remember all the firings Clinton executed in the travel office, too? Never hear the Alt Lefties criticize that either.

What some of you seem to be missing here - Resist Trump

[ In Reply To ..]
is that Preet Bharara was specifically asked by Donald Trump to stay in his job. Now he has been abruptly fired so the next question is why. Was Bharara investigating the goings on in Trump Tower?

I also think it's fair to say that liberals do not hate conservatives and Republicans. I, for one, hate their agenda, however. As for Donald Trump, I still think he is a coarse, vulgar, narcissistic con man who is going to do great damage to this country. I don't think there is anything pathological about hating his behavior.
It seems Bharara may have been a bagman for Obama/Lynch DOJ - funneling hundreds of millions in fines
[ In Reply To ..]
to left wing groups. This is too big to be a coincidence. Looks like the guy was dirty after all.
The Justice Department for 16 months has engaged in a scheme to - undermine Congress's
[ In Reply To ..]
spending authority by independently transferring dollars to President Obama’s political allies. The department is in the process of funneling more than half-a-billion dollars to liberal activist groups, at least some of which will actively support Democrats in the coming election.

It works likes this: The Justice Department prosecutes cases against supposed corporate bad actors. Those companies agree to settlements that include financial penalties. Then Justice mandates that at least some of that penalty money be paid in the form of “donations” to nonprofits that supposedly aid consumers and bolster neighborhoods.

The Justice Department maintains a list of government-approved nonprofit beneficiaries. And surprise, surprise: Many of them are liberal activist groups. The National Council of La Raza. The National Urban League. The National Community Reinvestment Coalition. NeighborWorks America (which awards grants to left-leaning community organization groups, and has been compared with Acorn).

This strategy kicked off with the $13 billion J.P. Morgan settlement in late 2013, though in that case the bank was simply offered credit for donations to nonprofits. That changed with the Citigroup and Bank of America settlements, which outright required $150 million in donations. The BofA agreement contains a provision that potentially tees up nonprofit groups for another $490 million. Several smaller settlements follow the same mold.

So was Bharara a crusader or a bag man for leftist groups? I can’t regard him as a serious impartial reformer if he presided over what amounted to a shakedown to benefit left wing groups like La Raza (“The Race”).

Good riddance.

Two children were burned, one of them severely, at the Dakota Access camp evacuation Wednesday after remaining activists set fire to about 20 shelters and a vehicle in what was described as a departure ceremony.
