Freedom of the press

Posted: Feb 25, 2017

So I guess if any news organization writes something that Trump doesn't like he is going to insult them, claim it is fake news and ban them from his press conferences.  Never thought I would see this in the USA.

;

No kidding - Banning the press

[ In Reply To ..]
and banning free speech is a step towards the dictatorship we talked about. The folks on the right need to open their eyes. You may not like what news sites say about him but really search inside and tell me you think it is okay to ban either side from having a view.

CNN is not being "banned" from "free speech." There is no - right to a press conference in the

[ In Reply To ..]
Constitution. They can report anything they want, but their actions do have consequences.

Just yesterday they reported incorrectly AGAIN and on purposes about an FBI report clearing the Russians. What did CNN report? White House asked FBI not to report on the Russians. FAKE NEWS!

Was their speech banned? No. Are they still on the air. Yes. Do they have a right to a press CONFERENCE? No.

A. He didn't ban anyone from a press conference. B. Did you object - when Obama DID ban Fox??

[ In Reply To ..]
You seem to conveniently forget Obama's running battle with Fox, Breitbart etc.

Just about every President since Jefferson has had more or less adversarial relationships with the press.

Get over it. Between you boo-hooing and the press bawling, I can't hear myself think.

Link please? I don't find anything on an Obama ban - More

fake news from the right?

Obama SPECIFICALLY and purposefully did not invite Fox News - and David Axelrod said Fox News was not REAL

news organizations should not even treat them as news.
I don't want to see the Trump administration only allowing in - fawning lapdogs like Obama did.
[ In Reply To ..]
What I don’t agree with is that the top 10 biggest press/broadcast outlets thing they need to have automatic access to every event.
If you watch your own video, Obama did not ban Fox - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
But pointed out that Bush did.

I cannot imagine why Fox has any credibility when I think of all that phony coverage about Obama's birth certificate.

I believe it was Robert Gibbs who made it a point to - tell people Obama did not

"invite" Fox

But do you hear - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
yourself think every time YOUR "president" is boo hooing, which is every...single....day. You need to realize you put a dictator in office, one who can't answer tough questions and one who can't take criticism, but BOY CAN HE DISH IT OUT. He's a textbook megalomaniac narcissit and I will not get over that nor should anyone.

What difference does it make when HE is answering - the questions

[ In Reply To ..]
He ridicules and mocks everyone who he THINKS is opposing him. He is an uneducated bully and doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Poor Bowling Green, poor Sweden----poor U.S.

With every freedom comes responsibilities. - The press have a duty to report the truth.

[ In Reply To ..]
Every American of any political persuasion should insist on a press that lives up to its responsibilities and should be insulted and indignant toward the current behavior of the press, which has been nothing short of reprehensible by any measure.

Having observed the American scene for many decades, it's a bit rich to see the left defending the corrupt press. We can take a stroll down memory lane if you'd care to visit a time when you wore that shoe on the other foot.

One of the biggest problems we have in society today is that so many people are utterly ignorant of our own history, even history as recent as, say, the past 3 decades.

and so does the president - nm

[ In Reply To ..]
Besides, who's truth are you talking about? Apparently the only truth is what Trump thinks even though he lies all the time. And some are ignorant to our own history as recent as say, the last month when the president of lies was inaugurated.

Yes welcome to - Nn

communist Russia in the making. Not only did I think I'd never see ANYTHING like this, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around why anyone in their "right" mind would vote for this nut. We have a 12-year-old foot stomping, temper tantrum throwing man child running a whole country when he couldn't even run his companies without bankruptcy. We are the laughing stock of the world and hate to say it, rightfully so.

The man hates being deliberately, repeatedly and systematically - lied about. Odd, that.

[ In Reply To ..]
Now think about the last person who told lies about YOU, and how you've never invited them back to your house.

What lies? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I would like to know what lies were told about him? Actual PROVEN lies, not just criticisms that he likes to cry and whine about. For all the "fake" news he and his minions whine about, I have yet to hear any proof of anything being truly fake. He brings all his problems on himself.

The press is not an entity that cannot be criticized. - With rights come responsibilities

[ In Reply To ..]
like telling the truth. The "press" can print what they want but the still can be criticized. Obama loved to mock Fox News.

The press likes to control what people read and how they - interpret it. Why are they ignoring Trump's

[ In Reply To ..]
sex trafficking busts? Do they lead to D.C. where all the politicians and journalists live? And those who buy the influence in D.C.?

There think they are there to tell people what to think, not report real news.

Known as Trump LIES. The media is being shut down. This is the part of media that was transparent, the actual television or recording. As of June 5, the communications staff stopped referring to the briefings as a “daily” event in archives on the White House website. Spicer spoke with members of the media for 34 minutes Monday in an appearance that the White House barred from being televised or recorded. Even then, Spicer’s answers to basic questions in many cases offered l ...

This Day In History, Kennedy Press Secretary Misleads PressOct 20, 2015
press corps is told that President John F. Kennedy has a cold; in reality, he is holding secret meetings with advisors on the eve of ordering a blockade of Cuba. Four days earlier, Kennedy had seen photographic ...

Freedom Of Religion.May 08, 2010
This country was founded on the needs of free women and men to practice the religion of choice. I find it disturbing that it is assumed on this thread, and generally in the USA that everyone follows Christian practice. And for all you Bible quoters, do you ever quote the Gospel of Mary and other Gospels suppressed by the "church" ? Or just the words of your overbearing patriarchs? P.S. God is neither male nor female.       ...

Never heard of this guy before. He sounds like quite a tool.  He was listed #77 of "Most Important Talk Radio Hosts" by Talkers magazine in 2012.  No big surprise there.     Talk show host, Bill Press, doesn’t like the Star-Spangled Banner. Imagine: a liberal talk show that’s not on NPR! His radio show is simulcast on Current TV. Bill Press likes provoking conservatives, but I’m not sure we should be provoked by his outburst against the National Ant ...

In America, There Is Freedom To Be Ignorant...Sep 07, 2010
(CNN) -- The U.S. commander in Afghanistan has criticized a Florida church's plan to burn copies of the Quran on September 11, warning the demonstration "could cause significant problems" for American troops overseas. "It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in Afghanistan," Gen. David Petraeus said in a statement issued Monday. With about 120,000 U.S. and NATO-led troops still battling al Qaeda and its allies in the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban movement, Petra ...

Going off about Saul Alinski, community organizing thugs not voters, blah blah.  I would welcome his candidacy because all that gibberish was judged by Americans last time and deemed rubbish. I mean, the man is half white, half black - so to regard him as being black is nothing BUT a choice, right?  Pick one from column A or one from column B - it's your CHOICE.  It is NOT factual to call Obama black, or to call him white for that matter.  But it does seem passing strange that no one in the press regards Obama as white.  Just by the laws of probability, you would expect that some would call him white and some would call him black.  I mean, if I showed 1 ...
