I don't think this is a coincidence. They aren't shy about talking about it, either. I mean, I'm all for medication to treat an illness, including mental illness, but I wouldn't broacast it. What happened to pride? It's like having a mental illness or a disorder is a badge of honor. I am all for being oneself and having confidence, however, that used to mean having ethics, integrity, working hard and helping others. Now it means being the most bizarre and pushing the limits. I see beauty and worth in all races and cultures, but I think I understand why so many hate our culture. In their eyes we must look insane.

IMO people choose to hand over their lack of ability to cope to the religion or if they don't believe they find relief in meds...some prescriptions, some not, some alcohol. Pick your coping mechanism. I personally think the Bible-way is a fairytale, and BELIEVE ME they talk ad nauseum about that too, and I guess other cultures probably think they are insane as well, since most don't practice their so called Christian ways that they tout. I think it best to leave the psych med and Bible people alone...they are just teverse sides of the same coin.

I don't know any Muslims who post their religious beliefs repeatedly on Facebook. I do however get lots and lots of religious posts by Christians which I'm not really a fan of. And yes, I would be just as irritated by Muslims or Wiccans or Rastafarians or anyone constantly trying to force me to read about their religion. That's why I'm only on Facebook about twice a month. And politics--I hate posts about politics which everyone wants to share, too.

Some of my conservative friends are religious PEOPLE (you don't strengthen your position by using the pejorative "zealots"), and about an equal number haven't darkened the door of a church or a temple for years.

You seem to know very little about Christianity - or religion in general for that matter.

The religious life isn't one that weaklings (or people who "can't cope" with life) can manage for very long. It's very demanding to be answerable to God, and such people usually fall away the first time that those demands come knocking on the door, requiring sacrifice, selflessness and courage.

The Christians I know are pretty muscular people, if I might put it that way, and very level-headed. I admire them.

...And your conservative friends are nuts and don't take anything. There is nothing wrong with being on medication for depression or anxiety, and it's okay to share that. Believe it or not, liberals have ethics, integrity, work hard and help others too. Donald Trump is enough to make anyone want to self medicate.

My SIL has multiple medical problems, including Kiari malformation and pseudotumor, and is constantly taking OxyContin and Percocet. If she's about to run out, she practically has panic attacks.
