Just can't wait till Sessions and the rest are in. - #MAGA

I imagine the left-wing loon extremists will hit rock bottom around that time and then pick themselves up again to begin yet another chicken little crisis du jour.

Why do you feel - Sessions is a great choice?

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not a loon, just wondering.

Why do you feel he's not? - sm

When I refer to loons, I am referring to the violent protestors on the street and the Hollyweirdos.

I don't call fellow MTStars posters names.

your opinion. I was hoping to get some opinions from both sides but am still waiting for positives reasons. Thanks again.

Apparently not too much concern over Senator Robert Byrd's civil rights history. A member of the KKK, yet Hillary called him her mentor and good friend and Bill Clinton praised him at his funeral. Such hypocritical double standards.

comment but I wanted to know why Sessions was a good choice. If I wanted to know about Senator Byrd, I would have asked.

I said I did or didn't. I asked a question, gathering points of view.
I don't feel like getting baited into a back-and-forth. - sm

I'm not necessarily meaning you. There are a lot of trolls on this board who just want to argue and play tit for tat. I'm not into that. I said I'm happy he'll be the AG. I will leave it at that.
I really do - not

want to start an argument or bait, but people sharing opinions in a civil manner is nice. I really am interested in both sides of the coin.
study his history - he was rejected

for a federal judgeship in 1986 because of his history of racism. Why would you support a man like this for an even higher position?

Who woulda thunk? - Jesus

Several days later, and I cannot help but notice that you still haven't gotten a response to your question. That's very telling, in my opinion.

My strong suspicion is that conservatives only like Sessions because the liberals are so strongly opposed to him. They're not in favor of Sessions because he has any qualifications, but simply because they want to upset the left.

Heck of a way the right wing has chosen to run a country.
Thank you Jesus, and you have hit the nail - on the head re Trump et al
[ In Reply To ..]
As sagely observed in my favorite podcast, The Professional Left podcast with Driftglass and Bluegal, Driftglass said this election was a big FU to liberals and that's about it.

I know many, many conservatives who detest Trump (and probably his horrible choices for his cabinet - worse than anyone imagined I think) as much as we do, but they probably voted for Trump anyway because they want to be in power. They get in, they are now slashing and burning everything as fast as they can.

Problem is, something's gonna hit them eventually, and they might wonder if all these ideological theories that Fox News propaganda and Rush Limbaugh have been pushing for years and years have a few holes in them.

Things like using the word "entitlements" when referring to your own retirement program known as Social Security you have been contributing to for years, and Medicare, the plan which originated so old people wouldn't have to be destitute and helpless in their old age.

Also, they are seeing the wrath of people who have had a shot at decent health insurance for the first time in their lives. I know many people on this board think the ACA is only something that made them pay more, but can you imagine someone who had a preexisting condition and never was able to get treatment, they finally have a shot at maintaining their own health?

Just think if that person was you or someone you love. You too would be out protesting, no matter what your political persuasion, if someone you loved was being threatened to go back to getting refused treatment for a life threatening condition, or being told they could only get treatment if they forked out obscene amounts of money for treatment. People who have a life threatening illness find it hard to make a decent income, they are too busy being sick. They now have a shot at getting well and it is going to be pulled out from under them? Not without a fight it isn't.

I hear a low whine that is rising from the "duh winners" here - they just want to be left alone and enjoy their win, poor dears. Nup nope never.

She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.

yes, I am interested too. Why do you view him positively? - hawtmk

What policies do you anticipate he will put in place and how do you feel they will benefit this country? I am genuinely curious.

No, the democrats already slaughtered it. - What are they? 12?

Why should celeb opinions matter? - Anon

You can't come up with more informed views or reasons why she isn't a good pick other than vapid, self-involved celebs who probably have no understanding of our educational system? Doesn't help your cause.

They appear to matter to the alt left. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Why else would they come out in droves and make commercials and go to rallies to make fools of themselves?

Why? - Jesus

[ In Reply To ..]
Why should celeb opinions matter? Well, you tell us. You guys elected Donald Trump after all, and he's nothing more than a B-level reality show celebrity. Conservatives apparently thought he had some sort of qualification or something learned from his vast experience of low-brow TV entertainment.

Betsy DeVos Is The New Secretary Of EducationFeb 07, 2017
Dems wasted their time for the 24 hours against her. I'd also like to know since when is a filibuster a "talkathon?" It was always a filibuster before. They blocked the voting process yesterday and spoke all night and into this morning before the vote.Again, DeVos made it with VP Pence's vote to break the tie.  i find the Dems to be quite disgusting but at least they're showing their true colors, backed by the Teacher's Unions. Too bad they care more for the votes instea ...

Democrat Who Blasted Betsy DeVos Over School VouchersMar 10, 2017
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) was one of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ biggest critics during her confirmation hearing. One major point of contention Franken had with DeVos was her support for a voucher system for middle-class families. This, in part, led him to claim that DeVos was “fundamentally unqualified to lead the Education Department.” ... However, information has surfaced that shows Franken isn’t opposed to school choice at all — at least not when it comes to his own fam ...

"Look at us. God has given to us. I can fix this. All you have to do is be like me.' You can understand how you might think that way, if you grew up here," Boote says later, as we take one final glance at the mansion over its tall, iron gate. "If you come from the small, sheltered, privileged environment of Holland, you are most likely going to have a very limited worldview—including how to fix education." ...

Loretta Lynch Confirmation..smMar 24, 2015

Speaking Of John Kerry: Confirmation Hearing &Jan 24, 2013
You'd think Sen. Johnson would have had enough sense yesterday, but definitely today, not to go with confrontational (and now we know uninformed/uneducated) questioning without even watching the classified video, a viewing of which Senators were invited to attend--he didn't... but he can still sit there and act like a know-it-all.  Kerry was splendid.   ...

Not Like Father, Like Son: Celebrities Who Endorsed Ron Paul Aren't Sure About His Son, RandMay 20, 2015
Did any of you know that famously "liberal" celebrities such as Bill Maher actually endorsed Ron Paul in 2012 rather than Barack Obama as they had previously? "Cities Weigh Taking Over From Private Utilities" To SwitchMar 15, 2013
Gist is private utility companies (70% of us buy from private) tend to charge too much, to shave services to enhance profits (among other things, tending to be slower to restore power after outages and to be unwilling to bury power lines), to pay their executives too much, and to be unwilling to advance to new energy sources.  Publicly owned power tends to be cheaper and more responsive in all ways, and overall far more interested in investing in change to meet future needs now. But, altho ...
