Oil spill in Canada on Tuesday spills 200,000 gallons

Posted: Jan 25, 2017

This is one thing we have to look forward to.  After it is all said and done, there will be 50 jobs out of the pipeline Trump wants to go forward with.  The taxpayers who live where the oil spills happen will pay to have it cleaned up, not to mention how harmful it is to the animals and environment.  Why would we want to go back to making fossil fuels are prime source of energy anyway?  So we can make money!  Lots of money!

Note: 200,000 liters not gallons (52,000 gallons) - some perspective

One rail car holds somewhere around 30,000 gallons of oil - one tanker truck holds about 9000 gallons. The DAPL pipeline will carry 500,000 gallons a day - my math says that is 55 semiloads of oil going over the road every day - and this is just one pipeline - is there a pipeline near you? Check the map....

Very sad - indeed

The only discrepancy I have with your post is it won't be "we" making money, it will be big wigs and stockholders of TransCanada Corporation that will benefit. It was also noted that Trump had shares in that corporation. He claims he sold them but has not shown anything to document the sale. It is some time in the spring that the documents have to be shown.

Unfortunately, the rest of us along with the animals and environment that will be the ones that suffer.

thanks for the correction, sorry - lisa

I had read previously Trump had an interest in this, thank you for the information. I totally agree with this.

Trump probably has - OABO

lots of money in fossil fuel stocks but we don't know do we?

No we don't- where are the - tax returns?

[ In Reply To ..]
That would be something that would be in his tax returns for those who think it is just a 1040.

bill ?? - lisa

I also heard on the news this morning they are attempting to put together a bill that will mean all presidents (including him) have to release their tax returns.
Long overdue - though

was not a necessity until dictator Trump took office. They also should be included in the conflict of interest rule.

You would rather oil spills via train or truck? - Truthhurts

That makes sense, doesn't it?

You make some excellent points.

Pearls before swine, I'm afraid. Logic and reason don't work on lefties, only emotions and irrationality.

The Oil SpillJun 14, 2010
This is an email forward I received today. I searched and found another related article, see the link at bottom. ***** Email Forward ***** First fact, the original estimate was about 5,000 gallons of oil a day spilling into the ocean. Now they're saying 200,000 gallons a day. That's over a million gallons of crude oil a week! I'm an engineer with 25 years of experience. I've worked on some big projects with big machines. Maybe that's why this mess is so clear to m ...

Happy TuesdayJul 27, 2010
I drug myself out of bed this morning feeling tired and mad at the world.  Nothing new!  I'm not really a morning person.  I took a shower, felt better.  I opened up the sliding glass door in my bed room and WHOOSH!  A gust of fresh air blew in!  It was cool and smelled green and fresh from the rain last night.  I opened up the other windows and doors throughout the house and the breeze and scent swirling around my house lifted my spirits.  I had a fe ...

Why Do We Vote On Tuesday? Well,Nov 05, 2012
From Smithsonian.com: "The answer, it turns out, has a lot to do with buggies and farmers markets. The Founding Fathers met at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, NPR explains, but at the end of the meeting they still had not resolved a number of questions about how to run an entire nation. One of those issues involved the timing of federal elections. As a quick fix, they decided to leave it to individual states to set their own voting days, which led to several decades of &ldqu ...

BP Oil Spill Becoming PoliticalMay 26, 2010
I never saw James Carville so furious and I don't blame him. This is oil spill is absolutely unforgiveable. The marshlands are being destroyed and probably the whole fishing industry for a few years, if not more than decades. I was reading other reports yesterday and I always read the poster's comments. Some say stop depending on oil and depend on nuclear, solar, and wind. That's easier said than done. Solar and wind are expensive and not a guarantee for northern climates. N ...

Dear MoveOn member, We struggled with whether or not to share this photo, taken of a bird on the beach at East Grand Terre Island, LA on Thursday. It's hard to look at. But we have to face where our addiction to oil has taken us—and this photo brings that home: (Click here if you can't see the image) The disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is heartbreaking—but if an image like this can do anything, it can sear into our minds the fact that we need a real plan to get ...

Tuesday Night At The FightsOct 17, 2012
I have to say I do not like debates.  It seems to me that the broad audience of the American public has developed this "blood lust" akin to a boxing or wresting match or some Superbowl event.  How can someone say that this person won on style, and this one on memorization of facts and figures and then vote for them? How does that relate to them being president, or one heart beat away? The only real message I can take away from these debates is how does my picture of this candidat ...

Bah Humbug, Super Tuesday. Why Is This Permitted At All.Mar 01, 2016
Seems to me each party changes the voting laws to the point where we the people never get the government wants. All of it rigged. I see it more this year. If Trump or Clinton walk away with this, then I say we need to challenge voting systems, especially for president. BP buys Google, Yahoo oil spill search terms By Hibah Yousuf, staff reporterJune 7, 2010: 6:37 PM ET NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- As BP continues to try to stop the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, the energy giant is also dealing with a public relations nightmare. That's why the company is snapping up search phrases like "oil spill" and "oil spill claims" on Google (GOOG, Fortune 500) and Yahoo (YHOO, Fortune 500).
