**WOOHOO!! KS Pipeline BUILT WITH U.S. STEEL!!** - USJOBS

LOVE IT!

President Trump has INSISTED -- and made it a CONDITION -- that the Keystone pipeline be built with U.S. steel!!

This will mean JOBS FOR U.S. STEELWORKERS in addition to the 28,000 KS pipeline NEW JOBS!!

;

1.5 MILLION NEW JOBS AND COUNTING - USJOBS

[ In Reply To ..]
Data st link (1.2 million) as of 01/17/2017, pre Inauguration.

Current figure I just heard on radio (not sure if that includes this KS pipeline - steel deal) is 1.5 million.

YAY!! This is FABULOUS NEWS for the USA!!

What a crock on the 1.2 million - jobs

[ In Reply To ..]
A few thousand temporary jobs is more like it. I know the right will slam this article but I thought it was an interesting read. It is from 2012 but has some interesting things about this pipeline.

Reread what you responded to. - LOL

[ In Reply To ..]
As stated in the post that you responded to, the 1.2 million figure, as outlined in the article linked in the post above yours, is TO DATE as of 01/17/2017. That includes Carrier jobs, etc.

As stated in that post, I DOUBT that the 1.2 million figure includes the pipeline since that piece was -- again -- dated 01/17/2017.
Well that article is a crock - too!
[ In Reply To ..]
This an article that is claiming he created jobs that he didn't create. We know the Carrier was not 1100, we know he didn't have anything to do with Ford or GM even though he's claiming he did. this is an alternate facts article.

This is why - sm - jess

No, but other methods of producing energy need to be explored - sm

Such as hemp, wind, and solar. Solar farms are noticeably popping up in my area, and the state in which I live has recently approved hemp production. These are good things!

Like it or not, we will always need oil.

Pharmaceuticals, plastics -- a LOT of products are produced from oil.

Most leftists who oppose oil drive over a few miles every day. - Those same leftists use gasoline,

oil, and plastics in their everyday lives.
The primary reason for Obama's ote on the pipelines is Warren - Buffet owns the trails that carry

Screw Warren Buffett, who attempted to legislate the permanence of his wealth by buying Obama (much like Soros and Mastercard).

Bill Gates has started a billion dollar fund for alternative energy, environmental protection, etc., since the EPA director is a stooge for the oil companies. All Chump is doing is propping up a dying industry.

Didn't you get the memo...sm - Anon

[ In Reply To ..]
We aren't dependent on foreign oil anymore.
Didn't you get the - memo
[ In Reply To ..]
That oil that would flow through that pipeline is not "our" oil. That oil is Canadian oil.

On another note, this link shows a map of how many pipelines we have in this country and talks about dangers associated with them. At the very end of this article, it explains the concerns President Obama had with this pipeline back in 2012. He wanted more studies on the safety of it. It hadn't been approved at the time he left office.

I wonder, did Trump get the results of these studies done before he okayed it? Did he do that on his first day or before the election or does he also just think it's our oil?

The map is utterly horrifying on how many pipelines are already running through this country and more and more spills from these are happening as these things are aging.

Can't use that argument. Ships hauling foreign oil have spills too. - Remember the Exxon Valdez??

[ In Reply To ..]
Everything related to energy in any form has risks and downsides. Dependency on foreign oil is a stage IV ischial ulcer on the hind end of this nation.

This oil is Canadian oil, goes through - our country to refineries

[ In Reply To ..]
then ships off to the highest bidder like all oil does. This oil is not reserved for the United States.

I am glad to see steel jobs come back. Wait till the infrastructure is going to be fixed. They will need lots more steel for support beams, etc.

I'm glad steel jobs would be created but not - a pipeline.

[ In Reply To ..]
Using it for the infrastructure would be good.

1.5 million jobs - uniquemonique

[ In Reply To ..]
It isn't anywhere near 1.5 million jobs. Trump makes everything he does sound 100 times better than it really is. It's his "alternative fact." Every other country in the world is watching him to see what his next step is going to be and we are going to be the ones to suffer their wrath if he pisses anyone off, and chances are good that he will. If he lasts 4 years (and I sincerely hope he doesn't), this country will be unrecognizable, and not in a good way.

There will be temporary CONSTRUCTION jobs created as well.

This is indeed great news!

There will be - old and burned out

[ In Reply To ..]
approximately 4,000 jobs in construction of the pipeline which will end when it is finished. The other jobs are ancillary services for pipeline workers which will end when construction is finished. There will only be about 35 permanent jobs.

At least they are REAL jobs. - sth

Not like the "shovel-ready" jobs and the "green jobs" promised by the predecessor that never materialized (except in CHINA).

+ 26K jobs in INDIRECT spending - Reader

[ In Reply To ..]
When people have jobs, they spend MONEY in the local economy.

They buy food, coffee, gasoline, clothes, rent housing, transportation, etc. Approximately 26,000 new jobs are anticipated from KS Pipeline due to this indirect spending (figure from Obama Administration's State Dept.).

That is true - that jobs help the economy

[ In Reply To ..]
However, the environmental risks many don't feel are worth those temporary jobs. Use the American steel to rebuild our infrastructure; we need that more than a pipeline running Canadian oil through our precious land. That will create jobs, improve our infrastructure that is in desperate need of repair, put the steelworkers back to work and keep that nasty oil out of our land.

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course, we ALL want good-paying MT jobs. But, with EMDRs -- which are NOT going away -- I honestly don't see that happening.

When people are working, EVERYONE benefits. More economic activity means more money in circulation. GDP rises, resultant social problems from high employment decrease.

Pipeline - Not necessarily good

[ In Reply To ..]
It is on Native American land, not to mention the environmental impact it is going to have for us and future generations. Did the concept of less dependence on oil, fewer gas guzzler SUVs or public transportation not occur to anyone? It's not being built with US Steel, by the way, that industry was outsourced long ago, along with the auto industry.

WRONG pipeline. sm - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
You are confused.

The Dakota Access pipeline is adjacent to -- not ON -- NA land. It runs near the reservation's water supply. The Army Corp of Engineers has halted all movement on that until an environmental impact study is completed, and they are considering relocating the route to protect the water supply.

Keystone pipeline is NOT on NA land.

Well at least they are skinny jeans to me :-)  I have been losing weight (could be something to do with my monikers name LOL) and can't tell you how excited I am.  4 years ago I was up to 200 pounds.  I stepped on a scale and I finally hit in the 150s (159.8) actually.  Gotta love that .2 pounds that brought me into the 150s which is a huge high for me.  I never thought I'd see the 150s again.  I think 1998 is when I weighed this much.  I've been ...

Perhaps the most startling discovery of the WikiLeaks dumps so far didn't come from the most recent emails surrounding the various Hillary scandals, though there are many great ones, but from 2008 when John Podesta served as co-chair of President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team. The email came from Michael Froman, a former Citibank executive, who single-handedly built the entire cabinet of what was supposed to be the "main street" President.
