The right wing on this board

Posted: Jan 19, 2017

does not seem to have noticed that the Republican budget resolution adds almost 10 trillion dollars to the national debt.  And that is taking into consideration the 14% tax cut for the superrich, increasing the military and assuming the economy grows the way Trump preaches it will although the majority of economists say it is highly unlikely.

The specific matter that Rand Paul was voting on - is replacing Obamacare.

[ In Reply To ..]
My impression is that it was to pave the way for total repeal. Paul's point seems to be that he doesn't want a deficit increase now with a possibility of reduction later (a reduction that would come if they re-enact some parts of Obamacare).

Repeal means that everyone added via Medicaid is back off and subsidies for Obamacare are gone. Should be revenue neutral (back to the way is was in 2007).

I am very aware of what kind of betrayal we should watch for from the Republicans in Congress. Many of them spend like drunken sailors same as the Democrats. I won't support everything Republicans do like Democrats did Obama if I think it's a bad idea.

So far, many of the things Trump wants to get rid of will save taxpayers a trillion dollars over the next 10 years. I hope he does it!

What's really bad is when one of them (Rand Paul, I think but I could be wrong) calls social security a "hand-out." Say what? We've been paying into that! Or how about Paul Ryan, who thinks that all the unemployed do all day long is "lie in hammocks" instead of getting a job? Enough said.... ...

(HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) — We'll name a hit TV show, and you guess if it's more popular among Republicans or Democrats.   First, "NCIS" — investigating military crimes on CBS. Safe bet conservatives love it, right?   How about ABC's "Desperate Housewives" — a racy soap, female audience? Little more tricky.   Now things get tough: CBS's geeky, atheist-friendly "The Big Bang Theory," Fox's megarated "American Idol," ABC's progressive ...

HS Wary About Reporting Right-wing Apr 20, 2010
Is Homeland Security Wary About Reporting on Right-Wing Extremists? Despite a recent upsurge in threats and violence by far-right groups and loners, the Homeland Security Department appears gun-shy about reporting or monitoring the trend too closely. Domestic security and counterterrorism officials say that even though, in light of recent events, a controversial report issued a year ago by Homeland Security about a "resurgence" in far-right radicalization and recruitment appears well i ...

Gingrich: Tea Party Will Become ‘militant Wing’ Of GOPApr 23, 2010
Former President Bill Clinton got into trouble with conservatives after he compared today's political climate with the climate preceding the Oklahoma City bombing. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich seems to be having a moment of his own: in a little-noticed appearance Wednesday, he suggested that the Tea Party will become the "militant wing of the Republican Party." But this time, conservatives aren't up in arms. While speaking at an event in York County, Pennsylvania Wednesday, Gin ...

This BoardSep 29, 2016
I started looking at this board mostly to see different people's thoughts and perspectives about this year's Presidential election.  Instead, for the most part I found snarky - and even frequently way beyond the bounds of civility - comments and wild speculation, uninformed claims backed by absolutely no presentation of facts, focus on items of a ridiculously low level of importance to our survival as a country and a world leader, and apparently little respect for - primarily - De ...
