Understanding liberal

Posted: Jan 18, 2017

1.  It's not all about Trump per se.  Trump is the "face" of liberal rage and bewilderment over something much larger - namely, the nearly nationwide rejection of radical liberalism that they've experienced over the last several election cycles (Obama's reelection notwithstanding). In state after state, the radical left has lost ground.

2.  In the context of #1, one critical consequence of this rejection is that they have lost the opportunity to tilt the Supreme Court (and lower federal courts) even further to the left.  There will be at least one appointment coming up, and probably one or even two more.

3.  Phony "fear" is being ginned up on the basis of false narratives by the leaders of certain ethnic communities. These "leaders" do this because they know that influence is  slipping from their grasp and they're desperately trying to remain relevant.

4.  Trump won't play ball with or be influenced by the liberals' mouthpiece, the MSM.  Yet more loss of ground.

5.  Liberals fear that Trump will rip a page out of Obama's book and govern like an emperor.  There may be something to this, but if so, they have nothing to complain about because they liked it plenty good when "their emperor" was on the throne.

6.  Liberals fear that the rules they made to benefit themselves in Congress will now be used by conservatives for their benefit.  Again, this is a pretty fair bet, and again, they have nothing to complain about because they liked those rules plenty good when they held the gavel.

7.  Liberals are experiencing the scorn of average rational people in Middletown USA.  The reason that most ardent supporters of liberalism live mainly out on the margins of mainstream society is because liberalism has made itself a movement of tiny "special"  segments of society to the exclusion - and even sometimes the detriment - of society as a whole.

8.  Liberals are now in the Denial and Anger stages.  It's time for Acceptance.

It isn't just Trump.  It's the rejection and repudiation on so many different levels, and perhaps in the mind of some of the more intellectually honest liberals, the beginnings of the faint suspicion that maybe they should have moderated their positions somewhat.  Any liberals who dare to voice such a thought, however, will be killed and eaten by the others in the camp.

Another thing is indoctrination in schools. Students at - hundreds of colleges and

universities are being systematically indoctrinated into the “New Civics” of social justice activism, according to a report released this past week by the National Association of Scholars.

The report’s findings suggest that the suppression of free speech on college campuses that is making headlines is only the tip of a very large iceberg. What lies beneath the surface is a massive, publicly funded program of indoctrination through a remaking of the curriculum as a vehicle for advancing the political agenda of progressivism.

for me it's about Trump being a psychotic idiot. I voted for Hillary but may have voted for Kasich if he had been nominated. Heck, I would have even considered Jeb Bush a better choice than that buffoon who got elected, even though I would not have voted for him.

The right shouldn't claim to know why I (we) don't like Trump. I can't speak for anyone else but none of your points above are why I don't like Trump. In a simple explanation, I don't like Trump because he is a dangerous idiot.

doesn't read the board very well. Every post starts with Obama did this, Hillary did that, Obama spent too much on vacations, Obama made money while in office, blah, blah, blah. The left just comments on the posts. Maybe the denial stage is on the right since they can only come up with criticism of Obama instead of things that matter once Trump takes office like how is he going to handle Russia and the hacking, how is he going to bring all these jobs back (which by the way he hasn't brought the GM, Ford and Fiat jobs back, they were already coming back under Obama's watch). What is he really going to do about healthcare with a republican congress, you know, things that really matter and by golly where are those tax forms that prove what an honest man he is?

I agree completely. They would have reacted the same - to any republican who won.

Some Help Understanding This PleaseOct 16, 2011
I'm young, a new mom, and have little in the way of "life experiences".  I don't want to keep making stupid costly mistakes, so I've decided to seek some help.  I want to understand my new health insurance.  I took my little one to a highly recommended pediatrician, got there, signed all the papers, and afterwards was blindsided when the total bill for the check up was $170!  All I was prepared to pay was the $35 dollar payment that my insurance told me I had t ...

Paris, And A New Understanding Of The Value Of Nov 14, 2015
In the wake of the horrific event in Paris, one of the themes on news channels this morning is predictable - and very important:  How can a free society defend citizens who frequent "soft" targets, meaning public places where it's neither feasible, practical or perhaps even desirable to maintain the presence of armed security forces? It's fairly obvious, even in the early after-action reports, that there was no one at any of the six or seven(?) attack sites who was armed and migh ...

make an official government visit to any country, especially an ally, unless invited by that country's sitting leader, per protocol.  Is Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the U.S. to address Congress Kocher?  He was not invited by Obama as this would be a no-no since Mr. Netanyahu is in the midst of an election campaign.  How would it look if President Obama visited Israel to meet and address the Israeli parliament without a direct invitation from Bibi?  Things are just ...

Understanding FREOPP's Obamacare Replacement In 10 Minutes Of Less.Jan 06, 2017
Things that Obamacare does that Transcending Obamacare doesn’t 1.Induce rate shock. The ACA introduces an entirely new layer of federal regulations into the individual health insurance market: tens of thousands of pages of onerous requirements that drive up the cost of health coverage. Transcending Obamacare is carefully designed to cover the uninsured without drastic premium hikes. 2.Force people to buy health insurance. Infamously, the ACA contains an individual mandate, imposing finan ...

Some Liberal Thoughts Oct 25, 2009
If a conservative doesn’t like a news organization or a talk show host, he goes on multiple chat boards and blogs and does everything he can to discredit them. Liberals just don't invite them in.  If a conservative decides he needs health care coverage, it is after he has taken advantage of the system by not carrying it; making payments to healthcare providers who are not in the business of lending money, and sometimes he has filed bankruptcy.  A liberal recognizes that eve ...

A Day In The Life Of A LiberalJul 25, 2012
Your day as a liberal begins at the crack of dawn with early morning yoga followed by a quick bite of dried seaweed breakfast before hitting the road to attend your latest "peaceful demonstration." For All You Liberal Disbelievers Out There (sm)Sep 05, 2012
