Has anyone ever used an online service to do a background check

Posted: Jan 7, 2017

I may start slowly dating again,  and I want to be able to check on people.  It's a lot different and a lot worse nowdays than it was 30+ years ago when I was dating at age 18 and you had somewhat better chances of trusting people you met back in those days.   That's sad, but a girl has to look out for herself and use any means to be safe.

yes - sort of

My former boss used an online service to do background checks on rental applicants, so it wasn't "me" who used it. I don't remember the name of it anymore, but I had to access the service when boss was out of town and see what results were for potential renters. It didn't give a life story but would say whether there were felonies or something else questionable. It would prompt a conversation with people to determine if the details of their case would prevent us renting to them or not. It had a $35 charge & was worth it.

Years ago I found a service out of Florida that - for varying fees, could get you

pretty much anything you wanted. Since this company was a tad on the sketchy side, for the right price you could even get a social security number. THAT is the magic key to just about everything else you need to know about a person. I needed to keep a long-time harasser from moving anywhere near me, and to know his whereabouts once it appeared that he was gone. With the
"magic key" I got present address & phone number, all past addresses and numbers, and all those of all his relatives and his girlfriend. Most valuable was his complete, lifetime arrest records, felonies, misdemeanors, convictions, fines, driving records, accidents, etc. and they were lengthy. The arrest record was what I'd been seeking, and with a little creativity and perseverance on my part, that record kept him out of any rentals within about a 10-mile radius of where I lived. You get what you pay for, and this definitely was worth every cent.

I sent you a PM regarding this. - Thank you. NM

with classified information.  So doesn't the president of the united states have to have a background check done before they can become president.  Don't they have to have security clearance and she can no longer have that because of "extreme carelessness" with classified information.  She should have been indicted.  The bar is now set so high they will never be able to indict anyone again for the crimes that she committed and got off scot-free. ...

Has Anyone Here Used A Check-printing Service? Jul 18, 2014
I recently started helping an elderly friend keep up with his bills. He has no computer and prefers mailing checks. It will cost almost $50 bucks for a refill packet of, I believe, 150 checks from his bank. Has anyone used a check-printing service that charges less? I have seen ads for these services but since they will get his bank acct info, I am being extremely careful. Check-printing software is a thought, but I tend to waste a lot of ink and paper getting printing jobs right. Any other idea ...

What Is It With These People And Background ChecksJan 23, 2013
Teachers have to have background checks to teach.  Health care workers with direct patient contact and even health care students have to have background checks.  I am pretty sure police have to have background checks, but people who want a tool that causes death do not think they need a background check?    As far as licenses go, it seems to me you need more documentation to vote, get married, work for a MTSO, drive, fish, or own a business than you do to own ...

Online BullyingApr 09, 2010
Do you think people use the anonymity of hiding behind the computer screen as an excuse to get away with bullying others? Do you think they would have the nerve to do such a thing in a face to face meeting? I'm curious. Oh and I'm talking about adult bullying. I know there have been cases on FB and other such sites where teens have been bullied to the point of suicide which is horrible. Do you think adult bullying can have a similar affect if the person they are bullying is already hav ...

I've been trying to find a more inexpensive way to buy groceries.  I don't do couponing much because all the coupons are usually for stuff I don't normally buy. I was looking at Amazon and it is amazing all the stuff they sell.  My question is this.  I see for instance a 12 pack of canned beans for 41.84 (pack of 12).  Does that mean 12 cans?  If so, Amazon is selling for 4 times the amount I pay for at the grocery store.  Am I reading that right?&nb ...

Question About Buying Drugs OnlineJun 07, 2011
My 18 year old nephew was involved in a wreck and was hospitalized with a severely broken leg.  He will be okay, but his parents are very upset that he was loaded!  He was drinking and had drugs in his system.  He will have charges for property damage to a business also. Do You Consider Sexting/online Relationships With Other Women Cheating?Jul 25, 2013
I do.  I caught my husband in a texting relationship/Facebook messages with several different women. He even went on what I consider to be a date (he went over to play guitar with her and she cooked him dinner) with one just a few weeks ago. I suppose one could consider me an idiot for standing by him. However, I do not believe he ever had sexual intercourse or other actions with the women. I have been with him 12 years and I just have a feeling.  I know many blame it on the wife, but ...

Christmas ServiceDec 25, 2013
I just wanted to share this with everyone as I think it is so awesome. My church had a Christmas Eve service last night. We sang carols, the old ones. Now my church is small and our choir during the year has at best 20 members. A lot of people came in for the holidays to spend with their families and some of them joined our choir for the service which raised it up to about 30 members, more or less. Well the main hymn, anthem or whatever was the Halleuia (?) chorus from Handel's messiah ...
