That rumor has been around the bend for years. I know that back in 2005, they suggested allowing people to VOLUNTEER to put a percentage of their FICA taxes into a private account, but it never came up for a vote. It was not mandated. It was not force and no one would be fined if they didn't want to do it.

This is a just another bunch of lies from the sore losers.

Sorry--it's really Paul Ryan's plan - Not Trump's

Anyway, it speaks about a "former lobbyist." Trump has gotten rid of lobbyists already. This Korby guy was also in the Social Security Adminstration and he's the one who has been advocating to privatize SS since 1996.

While Social Security spending and revenues are included in overall federal budget reports, the program historically has been self-sufficient. All Social Security benefits are funded from payroll taxes and the interest income from the investment of surplus tax revenues in a special series of federal bonds.

None of these earlier proposals to reduce the growing gap between program benefits and payroll taxes were enacted, and this legislative gridlock has turned a manageable course correction into a full-blown crisis.
Program reforms enacted in 1983 created big surpluses that are now being reduced. They will disappear in the next 14 to 18 years, depending on whose projection is being used. A recent study found that investing some of these surpluses in private stocks and bonds could have substantially raised trust fund reserves. But Clinton and many other Democrats have resisted privatization for many years.

There is no shortage of studies of ways to reduce the growing gap between program benefits and payroll taxes. The Social Security Administration maintains a comprehensive list of reform proposals and web links to related reports and research. Significantly, none of these earlier proposals were enacted, and this legislative gridlock has turned a manageable course correction into a full-blown crisis.

None of the above information comes from Trump. It comes from Phillip Moeller of PBS.

If you want to be bored, there's plenty of proposals from the Social Security Agency itself.

What happened in 1992? One of the first things Bill Clinton - did was to tax Social Security.

You'd be surprised at how many people think that most older people are rich and/or get a free ride from the government. Even the younger people in my family complain about not being able to move ahead because the "geezers" won't retire ("geezer" being someone in the their 50s). I doubt if a person who has the money to run for public office understands what it's really like to survive on a very modest income, but doing away with SS as it is now seems to be on the minds of a lot of politicians.

SS paid into by individuals USED to be theirs. In 1965 it was the the only program that was solvent. So guess where the Democrats went. Yep: Individuals' SS accounts.

Social Security is a progressive entitlement program created by Republicans and Democrats working together. Those conservatives ideologically opposed have always tried to get rid of it, but voters wouldn't let them because it has always served its purpose of protecting us from the possibility of destitution when we're too old to work.  Now their tactic of destroying it by delaying necessary adjustments has successfully brought Social Security to the point of failure. Trump's Apprenticeship Plan Will Feed Into Thees High-payingJun 25, 2017
Even if you disagree with President Donald Trump and his administration, there are some positive kernels out there. Trump has put an emphasis on jobs, for example, specifically jobs for the struggling middle and lower class. Although those promised jobs might not necessarily come to fruition, it’s good to hear somebody at least talk about blue-collar struggles. One way the president is focusing on jobs is by attempting to bring back apprenticeships. Apprenticeships, of course, are on-the-jo ...
