Internet no longer under U.S. control by Saturday.

Posted: Sep 29, 2016

will have wholly ceded over control of the Internet to UNIDO, (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). When it is far too late for anyone to do anything about it, history will someday record that Barack Hussein Obama hijacked public access to the Internet before leaving office. Why he decided to hand over control of the Internet, to an unknown conglomerate of “international stakeholders—held by the United States for all 18 years of ICANN existence—five weeks before Election 2016, remains a dark-sided riddle. Obama, Hillary Clinton, the global elite and big governments at home and abroad will be able to surf the ‘Net as usual and will be able to retain their IPs, but the masses will be left on the outside looking in. Ditto for Internet giants like Amazon and Google and others who were getting ahead of the curve four years before the hand-off. “ICANN — the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees a host of Internet-related operations, including the assignment of domain names — today revealed a list of nearly 2,000 top-level domain names that businesses and other organizations have applied to own, as part of a new move to vastly expand the range of domains that can be used. (TechCrunch, June 13, 2012). “It appears that Google has named a separate entity, Charleston Road Registry, to manage its gTLD portfolio, because Google, which is already an ICANN-accredited registrar, wants to keep its registry and registrar activities separate. We have contacted Google to ask why and it would not comment. ;

for the last so many years my husband and I were kind of figuring the internet would go the way of TV and radio - with stations and networks. does not seem really very different.

like you will probably have options like you do for cable TV, that is my thought.

seems inevitable. I remember plugging TV into a wall and watching whatever was on by people who programmed what they wanted...

then cable came along, and of course, the monopolies.

is it the same you think?

No. This is something very, very different than what - you're describing.

This isn't about mergers, acquisitions and business arrangements. It's about surrendering control of the major source of information in the modern world to foreign powers, many of whom are not friendly to the United States and do not share our belief in freedom of expression.

If you've followed what foreign governments like China, Iraq and others have done to restrict or even deny access to the internet by their own citizens - or, more accurately, citizens who express views or expose governmental corruptions, etc., what's coming down the track for the US is as plain as the nose on your face.

Nothing like this occurred in the entertainment/cable/broadcast industries.

This is an issue that should have been - madderthanawethen

voted upon by Congress, not just willy nilly given away like he did or invoked like an edict or one of his famous orders.

Even the populace should have had some say so in this, voting for or against this.

There are lots of things that we the people need to be able to vote on given the state of the congress, not passing much of anything at all that is helpful, etc. and just spending our money like they do on foolishness.

I agree completely. Congress has sat back and watched - Obama destroy this country.

The greatest legislative disaster since the Roman senate.

Even more disgusting is that the US created the Internet - and has no moral imperative to surrender it.

The Internet protocols that permit robust redundant communication between computer systems were developed by DARPA, with American tax dollars. We then invited the world to participate, and asked nothing in return. We have never charged another country one penny of tribute, or licensing, or many other things we might have done.

I cannot find words to express my utter contempt for Barack Obama. It was a very black day when he was elected President, and we will suffer the consequences for decades to come.

internet - Oh, me

Farther down the article: "Judi McLeod is an award-winning journalist with 30 years’ experience in the print media. A former Toronto Sun columnist, she also worked for the Kingston Whig Standard. Her work has appeared on Rush Limbaugh, Newsmax.com, Drudge Report, Foxnews.com, and Glenn Beck."

I will have to research this further...do you have any other place to get this information?

The US government, much to the chagrin of Senator Ted Cruz, is set to officially relinquish the Department of Commerce's oversight of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as of tomorrow night at midnight. Nixing Saturday Mail Delivery Will Hurt Minorities And Single MothersFeb 09, 2013
After the United States Postal Service announced that it intends to stop delivering mail on Saturdays in an effort to cut costs beginning this August, many praised it as a relatively straightforward way to save roughly $2 billion a year. Some lamented the inconvenience of the change and others were alarmed at what that means for post office employees. Not many, though, tied the matter to race or gender. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) was apparently one of them. He explained on MSNBC: ...

TV Longer Than Stand?Nov 16, 2011
I am definitely challenged when it comes to knowing if something looks right.  I'm thinking of getting a new flat screen television and the one I have in mind is about 10 inches longer than the stand I have.  I love my stand and matching tables and want to keep it/them.  I never see TVs longer than stands in ads and in displays.  I don't want to buy it, get it home and set up only to find I really hate it that it is longer than the stand.  Anybody care to offer ...

...that is little different from the feudal system that existed in England at the time of the American Revolution. No, we don't designate "lords, ladies, dukes and earls" as such, but have no doubt that they exist. No, we don't have a king...or do we? Thomas Jefferson knew something about the insidious ways in which power becomes concentrated in the hands of the few, and used in ways that benefited the few to the disadvantage of the many. Question About Internet Service ProvidersJul 09, 2016
